Subject: On my last nerve....

Some of you may know that I posted my problem a week or so ago. That problem still exists, of course :@

I have the no text problem on HPC. I just don't know what to do now. I have tried so many things to fix it myself. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling 10 times, used the msxlenu.exe uncountable times, and I have restarted countless times. I cannot fathom what this problem could be.

I even try to just ignore it and play on. Well, it just isn't the same. I do not know who I killed or was killed by. Cannot chat with anyone, comment on their game, or be complimented myself. It is frustrating me so -blam!- much.....

I have had one idea, despite my growing hatred of this problem, but do not know of a way to execute it. I want to just find the file that controls the multiplayer text/chat and just replace it with a newer one. I don't know what problems could/might occur with this, but it is something for me to look to.

Now, I just need to know if there are any other ideas some of you might have that I have not tried yet. Please, please just help me with this problem. I am getting tired of this bull-blam!- and just want to play.

Happy belated Holidays

And this damn thing screwed me over again. I click preview and i get sent to the front page?!!? Had to type this all up again; I might of forgotten something but.... eh.

Okay, so can we have the specs of your video card? If Mslxmenuorwhateveritscalled doesn't work, I would certainly suggest updating your GPU drivers and seeing if that helps. This is usually an issue with older graphics cards and as such, updating the drivers should help.

If that doesn't help, the only option you may have left is to get a new GPU entirely.

I recently(a month maybe?) built this computer. My specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800
GeForce 7600 GT KO
1Gb of ddr2 ram

That's all I think you would need. I am pretty sure that I updated my gpu drivers when i first got the card. I remember now only because my scrolling was going very slow when I first installed my video card, and someone suggested updating my drivers.

It isn't old, as you can see. Maybe you are right. I'll go find those drivers and compare the versions.

Here are my specs(for 7600): Link If you want to check for yourself if they are updated.

Try disabling one core. Don't ask me why, but there are a whole host of things halo dislikes with amd dual-cores every so often.

Hmm, you might be right. But I only know of one way to set it to one core and that is by using the task manager.

Would you know a way to permanently restrict it to 1 core? I just now tried opening up Halo, minimizing it, going into task manager and checking off one core, then restarting Halo. But it still shows both cores checked :S

Know of any way to have it permanently on one core?

Have you added anything new to your Halo properties? Theres hundreds of mods that can seriesly screw up Halo PC and one of the most common side effects is no text.

One thing is if you added d3d9.dll to your Halo folder it will completely -blam!- up your system and it will require a full uninstall and reinstall of Halo. Now the reason i say that is becuase you Have a 7600gt meaning you have a Nvidia card, same one as me in fact. About a week ago there was a thread about fixing your camo? Well seeing as how your problem started a week ago and that thread was posted a week ago.. maybe you tried it. Now this happened to me i added the d3d9.dll file to my Halo PC shaders file.. In result i had no text. I had to also re-install.

This is just one example. It also my not help you at all becuase you may not have added any mods to Halo.

Thats just me putting my 2 cents though.

Ahh, that thread about camo wouldn't be mine. My thread was on the same subject as this one, it just wasn't ever solved. And I have not tampered with HPC in any way; I have not d/led anything or put random crap in the folder.

Again, does anyone know if i can just replace the file that controls HPC's multiplayer text with a new/clean one? Or any other methods? Please...

Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to say that my problem was resolved!! Which is weird because it took the least effort -_-

I still thank anyone who has helped with suggestions and all.

If anyone sees this, as long as this thread is visible, I got my solution from the first place I should have looked >.> I <3 MS

Method 2 did it :D
