Well, I just made the embarrassing mistake of double-posting. This is because there were two lines of thought in one thread, and I felt the need to quote each of them. But that shiny quote button only hits one of them!

I think we would have an easier time expressing ourselves if there were a button (or shortcut) to quote multiple people without opening new windows and typing [quote]. There are times when you want to quote a lot of people, or even just the same person multiple times. I'm sure we've seen Jeremiah's Postaculars in the Clanmatch thread. I'm not sure what form this button would take, but I think it is a needed function. Would you like another button for quoting many people in the same post?

If you are quoting different people and actually giving a different point to each one, i really dont see the problem with multiposting.

uh.. and you can quote more than one person in a post. just write out the [quote] tags.

I know how to use the quote tags, but when I'm writing a post, it only lets me see the one whose reply button I clicked. That's what I was referring to with opening multiple windows.

Like he said, if you're quoting multiple people, its not really a problem if you double-post. One way around it is to reply to one person, quote them, say your stuff, copy your post, cancel the post, go to the next person, paste your old post, quote that person's post, reply, lather, rinse, repeat. This way you don't have to have multiple windows open, but it does require a little more navigation and copy/paste skillz. Works for me.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I think it would be hard to implement for the web team, and its not really necessary. I think it actually might make the quote system too complicated for some of the newer members. They have a hard enough time with our present system, there's no need to over complicate anything.

How often do you need to quote multiple people? I almost never have to. And I'm fine with using the quote tags. Maybe if quoting multiple people was an essential method of interacting with these boards I'd agree with you. But its not essential, so I don't think its needed.

With many other forums, you can have a "Quick Reply" button toward the bottom of the page. This enables the user to type out his response, while still being able to view the posts above him/her that are just a "scroll away."

Or another method, but still the same "feel" to it: Implement the # posts. I know, it looks tacky and usually takes away peoples personalities by responding "Number 14 has a point!"

I'm not sure if this would keep in tact the simple B.net we know, but it sure would help.

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

You can hit "quote" On one post you want to quote, then hit the "back" Button twice, find the other post you want to quote, then hit the "forward" button twice, then C&P it in the box with quote tags along with the name of the user that said it. That's how I do it. Or, you could reply, quote, then submit, C&P the other post you want to quote, then edit your post with the new quote. There's two ways you could do it...

As some have said, if you can open another tab and press quote there to get the format. Copy that into the existing box and that's probably the easiest way to do it.

Then again, I don't really see anything wrong with double-posting if you're answering a quote. :/

I've had that happen to me before.

Now, what you do is quote the first person you want to reply personally to. Then, type what you're going to say to the first person, and submit it. After that, go to the other person you want to quote, and click reply. Quote them, and copy their text. Go back to your original post, where you replied to the first person, and paste what you had copied. You can do this multiple times, just by editing your post.

TO THE NEIGHBOR'S!!!

Tabbing and using your "clipboard" to C&P are your most viable options.

The Tied The Leader forum allows you to view the last 20 or so posts while you are creating your own. To quote all you need to do is scroll down and hit the "quote" button on the post or posts you wish to add.

Bnet would have to go under some major construction for this to be an feature, but its a nice thought.
