it's like the pistol, if used correctly it can un-balence every weapon and give u a huge advantage if you master it. unlike the pistol how-ever, the flamethrower can't be mastered because it's point between the huge crosshairs, and pull until u smell something cookin', repeat. just balence the thing, limit it's use, and make it hard-to-reach such as the sword in Halo 2 and there you go.
BTW: iamsilencer, start to use commas and we wouldn't have to waste 10 minutes trying to figure it out.

Ah...I've always loved a few strips of Spartan Armor BBQ. It goes well with the UNSC brand BBQ sauce.

so the risks outway the benfit?!?! and u call it a good weapon then why are u sayinf it should be (curiosity not furocity)

I guess you can say that. It sort of forces the users to think again about using the flamethrower, no matter how good it is, it is filled with negatives of its own.

Exactly. There have been times where I died because I would have just finished getting a triple kill in a tunnel with a Flamethrower, when a person at the far end of the tunnel would start shooting at me. And I couldn't reach him because my Flamethrower didn't reach that far. And to get to him, I would have to run through all the burning dead bodies I just killed, which would catch me on fire. Also, the Flamethrower is the only weapon that overheats, AND uses ammunition. skilled users of the Flamethrower just reaload when it overheats to save time when the can empties, but most people forget that when they are in a heated battle. No pun intended

What I absolutely love about the death animations in Halo is that sometimes if you kill someone while they're firing their weapon, they'll keep firing as they hit the ground, and if you have low health, it can end up killing you. Like when somebody died and a grenade sent his body flying while I shot his flame thrower sending it spinning in mid-air as it spewed flames all over my body.

Something I'd expect from the Final Destination series. xD

so all in all its a giid gun just don't overuse it and make it alittle more balanced. Im also adressing another point i laughed at earlier. In halo the flamethrower was found in 1 or 2 areas on a map... usually. when someone said make it hard to find like the energy sword...it made no sense. The thing about the energy sword is its limitless making....well god like. The Flamethrower has limits and DOES NOT KILL ISTANTLY in halo to get away u run away full speed, drop a ledge or jump over it to evade. The only way to evade the energy sword is stay well away. Make it like the shotgun in H2 a couple of rounds and 2-3 per map AND PUT THEM IN A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN PICK THEM UP like in halo. They are killers but since there are 2 on a map... it could even it out if one is at one base and the other is ar one base in other words even the spacing

BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD 'THROWER

good times, playing odd ball in the gulch cavern... =)

The stupidest thing abouth the sword, and indeed the thing that splits it apart from any other weapon is AMMO

IF THE FRICKIN SWORD HAD AMMO IT WOULD BE MUCH LESS ANNOYING,

I have been in many Halo 2 games where objectivce really seem to be, grab the sword, and then it just flips form team to team, unless it is left somewhere==V. unlikely, and it is soo anying when someone sword lunges you, but wid the flamethrower, you could, as other poeple have sed, evade it, and kill the user, but the only half wokring defences aginst the sword are RUNRUNRUNRUN or sticky nade towards him= (when he lunges he get stuck XD)

But so is the shotgun and plasma granade. I think thats why the were downgraded in Halo 2.

plasma grenade is easy kills? since when lol.

Shotgun in halo 2 is a joke, I would never use halo 2 as evidence to how something in a game should be done, it should a random number of bullets, making it 100% luck. Totally stupid.

Wrong, wrong, so very wrong. They were not downgraded in Halo 2, in fact, they've become incredibly easy to use. They're cheap and take no skill to use, and landing a plasma grenade at someone's feet without sticking them equals a kill. But something even more annoying about them is the inconsistency of them during online play. I'm sorry, but how is it that when I fill someone with lead and melee them afterwards they quickly turn around and shoot me back and I die?

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Remember guys, Master Chief's Mark VI Armor is fire proof now. He can't take fire damage. So a flamethrower is no good.

Unless...The flamethrower used SUPERHEATED PLASMA!!! If they didn't do that, the flamethrower still might work on elites...But that wouldn't be fair...

Well, actually, if they are smart enough to turn their particles to Low or Off, flames wont blind them. :)

The flamethrower was hardly ever used in matches, so it's quite pointless to bring it back. Although with the maps in Halo 2, like Midship and Ivory Tower (for example), it would probably be used quite a bit if they got a chance.
Although if Bungie left it out in Halo 2 Xbox, don't expect it back in H2V.

To an early post in the thread about balance.

I think the rocket hog is far more balanced than the normal one. At least a decent player can avoid the rockets and take them on, rather than get owned by a hail of bullets in a second flat.
