I would actually have to say that the Ravenholm level of Half-Life 2 is one of the best "creepy levels" in videogames. It wasn't just the blood covering the walls, the zombies that popped out of nowhere, (or ran up to you screaming *wink*) the blood, the zombie halves, the blood and the nighttime, creepy setting, but the ambient noise. People who've played the game and heard those motherfscking zombies scream will know full well what I'm talking about. Not just that, but the ambient noise; wind blowing in the background, shaking of a chain-link fence in the distance, all build tension, something that Halo does a relatively poor job of.

In short, I used to be a little creeped out, but now...I tried it last night for -blam!-s and giggles, and...I was disappointed. The Flood were nothing but gray blobs of shotgun-practice. Like someone said, on the list of scary moments in videogames, Flood rank no more than a "meh."
As for Half Life 2, Go give it a try yourself and see what you think. The demo lets you run through Ravenholm and is worth the scare. The system specs are surprisingly low, HL2 is flexible enough to run on a variety of computers.
