Download and install the XBox 360 Controller Driver for Windows XP, then setup Halo to use the controller, as simple as that.

Edit - Link removed, goes to old version of Xbox 360 Controller driver, use one posted below

Keep in mind the Xbox 360 controller will not work with your ten-year-old computer running on Windows 98. It is only compatible with Windows XP-based PCs. And it has to be the wired version, not the wireless.

But I suggest you entirely ignore above said statement - just because you're unfamiliar with the mouse and keyboard doesn't mean playing with a gamepad will make you better. It will make you worse. Trust me and many others, you will get your ass kicked, if not more than it already is, if you play with a controller.

Just ask noobnoobnoob.

Um, no, and even then, wouldn't having to plug in the charge and play kit to a wireless controller negate the purpose of having a wireless controller in the first place?

But I just said that you can only use the wired controller.

Actually, they do have drivers for the wireless 360 controller.

Wireless 360 controller drivers

I do sometimes use a wired 360 controller for Halo PC, and it is difficult, but not impossibly difficult.

Dude...I tried a Xbox 360 Wireless controller and Held down the GB (Guide Button) like I do on my 360, and I tried to change the thing on settings that says (Keyboard/Mouse) To Controller, but I clicked the arrows and nothing happened.

You need to go to the Gamepads section in the options and add the Xbox 360 Controller to the Devices in Profile list from the Available Devices list, double clicking on the list entry for the Xbox 360 Controller should move it to the Devices in Profile list. Save those settings then go to the Control section in the options and change the setting that says Keyboard/Mouse , to Controller, then map the various functions to the buttons you want them on the Controller.

Also on the PC the Guide Button has no function except checking the battery status of the Wireless Controller.
