I try to do things like this, but most of the moderators are offline whenever the real trouble starts. That is why we need moderators who can be online when others are not, have a shift of moderators so you can at least cover both night and day. If anyone can recall the deutchGod incident. I PMed many moderators, as most other members did. But becuase the moderators were not online, he went rampant with hundreds of posts. There is a big gap, for about 3 or 4 hours where no mods are online.

Solution = Greater timezone diversity. I say, more European and Australasian moderators. But, that's just my view.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

It's really a shame that users like that think -blam!-ing out someone will garner them praise from the Mods or Achronos. Trying to be a mod used to be a good thing. But that was back when people actually knew The Rules.

MC's Brother seems to be obsessed with the arcane. I'd stay clear of him, if I were you.

Playing the moderator is fine, if you do it right.

Verily. Beware he who does not pretend to be a mod.

It's true. A large porportion of people who sign up on this website sign up soley for Halo 2 Mulitplayer and Halo 3 disscussion. It's not until they get bored of this that they then move onto either the Septagon or the Flood, and that can take a while. These people just rush through the registration process and get right into the forums without even thinking about rules or anything, acting on what they think is right and wrong - not what actually is right and wrong.

Anyways, didn't we have a thread similar to this one quite a while back? About what is a Forum Cop and whatnot?

  • 12.29.2006 2:10 AM PDT

Yeh, I hate when that happens.

I am...whimsical today.

I love that YTMND :)

It was said before. People who point out your mistakes to help are groovy.
Those who do it to obtain the feeling of power and superiority get annoying.

Then again, those who try to help in an abrupt and rough manner can be annoying, and those who get the feeling of power with politeness can be groovy ;)

Trying to be a mod is still a cool thing, but like all cool things, too many people start doing it, and some kids ruin it. It happens all the time; Smoking, skateboarding, forming a rock band, etc.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Why do we have threads like this on a weekly basis?

We get it.

Forum cops are annoying.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

I have an idea.

Lets let this this die and then in a couple days create a whole new one that says the exact same thing and then let that one die and then create another exact replica.

Geezus people, is there any originality left in bungie.netland?

Edit: I have just come to the realization that The Septagon is my own personnal Groundhog Day. I just have to figure out how to make it stop.

If I stop playing moderator I'll lose my job. Why would you do that to me?

Well, what do you got to lose? Besides your job...which means nothing.

I knew Bill Murray Twinkie, Bill Murray was a friend of mine. You sir, are no Bill Murray.

I'll be on my own side.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with being mods. If the trolls are so irritating to these "forum cops", why would said cops make themselves something that amounts to a target for the trolls?

I don't see any forum cop being able to deal with constant PM spam and harassment from the countless retards on these forums.

That was the thread in question? It didn't seem like he was playing mod to me either. Heck, he used a bit of profanity. That's not playing mod, that's just being a bit harsh.

The ones who PM us instead of posting "Locked" tend to recieve more praise, anyway. So do that instead. PM me with a hyperlink and alot more gets done.

I'm gonna spam your MSN windowz, and steal ur bandwidthz. I swear that cat is from tech support, it's not stealing ur dataz.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

People who play "forum cops" are often times watched a lot more closely than other members. I know several mods who have handed out temp-bans to people who have acted as forum cops and done it incorrectly.

I say let the forum cops "live and let die". If they are doing it incorrectly, the mods will come down on them, and they'll reconsider what they are doing. And the people that are doing it correctly, well, nothing will happen to them, or they'll become as famous as Bobby O.o
