But then you'd have to worry about compatible ram and processor as well...

X1300 is better, but 6200 will do it I suppose.

I can run halo completely on full at 1280X1024 with a 9200, so if halo's all you want, go for that. Otherwise, 6200 will pull out more performance for newer games.

OMG PWNAGE!!!!!! The Death Island Foretress looked like it was made of diamonds or something!

Ok, that picture counted as...about...20 confirmations...so I have about 23-24 confirmations, which means Operation Get-6200-As-Fast-As-Freakin'-Possible is now underway.

Hey, Nvidia 6000 and 7000 Series cards are great, but I am a Fellow PCI Slot user, and I paid $130 for a Special Edition GeForce FX 5500ZX in 2005 at Tech-Depot (It has been discontinued since) and it is a Hellava Graphics Card, sure not as fast or great as some cards, but it Runs Halo and Halo CE Fast as Hell!!! I have no problems playing other higher-end graphics games!!

All in all if you simply want to get a good solid graphics card, without having to replace anything, get a GeForce FX 5500 or a GeForce FX 5200 (the 5200 has 256MB or Memory Compared to the 5500 128MB, but the 5500 Runs a Hellava lot FASTER and HARDER), it will be well worth your money.

Go to www.techdepot.com and in the Search box type: GeForce FX, It will bring up a Good Selection!

Hope this helps, BOSS

P.S. Also I am a Computer Performance Tech, and you can go to my homepage at www.galactictechinc.zoomshare.com and click on Links for some helpful Links to other sites related to Graphics Cards. Check it out, and Enjoy!

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

DO NOT get GeForce! I just purchased one of those; it was missing the necessary drivers to install, so I had to spend at least 10 hours searching the web for the drivers.

What Model of Card was it? They Just had a Big Recall on some of the GeForce Graphics Cards due to Driver Falure!

Thanks, BOSS

Eh, 6200 LE. Anyways, they'd better recall them. I don't need to send mine in, though...I found the drivers on another website and it works fine now. It looks good, I'm just pissed that they didn't send the card with the right drivers.

ipjuunin I think you should go with the x1300. I have an x300 (the previous generation version) and it runs halo on high at 800x600 (1024x768 if you overclock d(^.^)b.
If all you can afford is the 6200, then be it, but I say you should save up the little bit more. It sounds like you're in a tight financial situation man, and I'm sorry, but very good job already saving up that money. Save a bit more and it'll be more than worth it.

I know it's a long list, but I want to make sure from the experts, so I can get a decent card that costs what it should.

Experts? The experts? You must have us confused with some people who are better than we are. Joking. Anything with the numbers 9250 in it sounds good.

RADEON!

Oh, and you can view my XFire profile for pictures of Halo and CoD2 on a Radeon 9250 with a 1.49 gh processor.

But I can run Halo on high everything (except shadow and specular, because I like to listen to music while I play) with my overclocked processor at 2 gh.

If you took 2 seconds and looked at the link I posted, you would realize I selected a PCI...NOT PCI-E or AGP card.

I want a link, no one recalls a card because of a driver.

You should pick a resolution that your monitor runs at since no monitor runs at that ratio.

Stop reccomending that card, it does not even support dx9 effects which is why your CoD2 shots look bad.

Static, just chill. I understand you points, but don't be too hostile about it towards people. They're all just trying to help me out here, and I appreciate their help, even yours.

And thank you BOSS, for the links and the help, and thank you the3ford for understanding my financial problems right now. I thank everyone who posted and recommended something here. I'll see what I can do about the X1300, hey maybe out of some desperate miracle, I can get payed by advance. =D

But so far, my heart's set on the 6200. Possibly the FX5500, if I can find a FX5500 that's 60 dollars or less in CompUSA, which I cannot go to due to the heavy rain. I've never really liked ordering online, but it's worth the 6200. =D

EDIT: Oh and by the way, I currently have $170 saved up, it's more than enough for the X1300, but then again, I shouldn't waste money so suddenly...so I'm not sure what I should do. FX5500 for 50 dollars, 6200 for 70 dollars, or X1300 for 105 dollars...sigh...

I upgraded from a Radeon 9250 to a GeForce 6200 last year, and it wasn't too much of a performance boost for Halo. Granted, with the DX9 card I could run some other games, but it depends on what you want to do.

If you solely want a card for Halo, get the 9250.
If you want to play other games too, get the 6200.

But my recomendation is to get a new motherboard with PCI-E or at least AGP anyways, and just save your money and get an Nvidia 7 or even better 8 Series card.

I'm getting it for other games as well.

I'm not sure if any of you remember me saying this a LONG time ago, but Halo isn't the reason I'm getting a new graphics card. I can live with Intel/half-color graphics, actually I love it to be honest. I'm getting my new graphics card, because I wasted 40 dollars on CoD2 thinking it will work, but that was a big no-no. So I'm getting it so I can get my 40 dollars worth playing CoD2 (hopefully, it's as fun as CoD1), but you know what they say hit two birds with one stone. This graphics card will also enhance the graphics and performance of my HaloPC, my CoD1, and my CS games. So so much the better. =D

But you see my friend, the 6200 on Newegg is 69.99. WITH tax, AND shipping and handling, it'll be more than 70 dollars, probably 80. So it IS worth it...;D

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

For that price you can get a cheap MB from newegg, use your existing ram and processor, and buy a better PCI-E video card, but that's just me.

I'm getting the 7600 GT this week.

lb, you can buy A MOTHERBOARD with a 7300 le chipset, that will run things like counter-strike on max settings. do not get a FX 5500, those are directx 8 cards and directx 10 is out right now. you will not be able to play any games made in january or later with that card. save your money, and but a mobo with that chipset and a PCI x16 slot, i beg of you.
