Lol lol man now thats funny!!! I'd like to get a 65000 graphics card that must be one hell of a card!

The reason I was telling the guy to get a 5200 or a 5500 is only because he said that he didn't want to pay a whole lot for a graphics card and also becuase he had a PCI slot motherboard and didn't want to have to replace it, but yeah if he was totally going for a new look then hell yeah get a new motherboard as well as a 6000 or 7000 series graphics card!

Man I am still lol lol about a 65000 card ha ha, He must have friends in the covenant technology corp lol!

No, you suggested the 5200 and the 5500 because of a lack of knowledge, which is fine, but there is a PCI 6200.

GeForce 7600GT. I went from 640 x 480 at 20 fps to 1280 x 1024 75fps all the specs up.

Really?! WOW! I just ordered a overclocked 7600GT from newegg the other day. it should be getting to me some time this week. what card, if any, did you have before? i have integrated right now and i can play halo using -useff with 1024x768 with particles turned up and decails on and i get about 20 fps.

I had an integrated GeForce 6100. It ate up all my ram. But the cool thing is, two days after I got the card, I got another 512 MB of RAM (giving me a gig) and a day after that I got a Athlon 3000+ (Killing my old sempron)

You won't have a good experience with a low-end card. Halo PC ran like crap on my old Radeon 9700Pro, which is still quite a bit faster then the GeForce 6200, all the GeForce FX series, and the Radeon 9250. Halo 2 is going to be even more demanding.

I would recommend something at least in the Radeon X800 or GeForce 6800 range to run this game at decent quality settings with a decent frame rate. It doesn't help that Vista is also going to consume what ever the rest of your system resources are. The rest of your system should have atleast 1GB of RAM, and a fast processor (preferably dual core)

I know I don't have the best card in the world but I do know that my GeForce Ti 4200 does deffinatly hold it's own. I swear this card does stuff it shouldn't, LOL. If you are looking for a cheap card that will get the job done, you want a 4200, I found that even though it's old, it still is performing quite well, even with todays games.

My old rig had a Geforce TI 4200, it ran very well, until it exploded, literally. The heatsink fan disintegrated and it caught fire. You can imagine the look on my face when my PC tower started billowing smoke like a Chicago highrise...

I run a Radeon X1600 Pro AGP (since I have an old motherboard) on my comp. Its awesome, and runs most games realistically with good graphics. I even get the glassy camo, I average about 70-120 FPS in game and a somewhere between 40-60 when recording.

Smooth, clear, and awesome ^_^

Resolution: 1024x780
Framerate: No Vsync
Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
Specular: On
Shadows: On
Decals: On
Particles: Full
Texture Quality: High

Looks good, plays good, the perfect medium. Looks alot like Halo xbox ^_^

My card pwns yours. I just need to reinstall Windows.

A full system upgrade cost me $500. Looks like you better find that 6200 PCI.

The Ti4200 doesn't even support SM2.0, forget SM3.0. To get any of the fancy effects in Vista, you need SM2.0, so chances are you won't be able to run Halo 2 very well. With that said, I used to have a Ti4200, and for it's time it was a damn good card. With a little bit of OCing, it kept up with its big brother the Ti4600 just fine.

You can get an X850XT for less then $100 nowadays (assuming you have PCIe) you should atleast get one of those.

Listen Static, I don't know what your damn problem is but I am a Computer Performance Tech for a Living so I know what the hell I am saying and my knowledge is extensive!!!

Also, I've played Halo and Halo CE on a 5500 for a long time and it is as fast as a PCI card can be with all the settings set as High as they will Go!!!

So you just need to shut-up with the smart a-- comments!

No matter what way you look at it, the 5200 and 5500 suck. As a matter of fact, the 5500 is just a 5200 with slightly higher clocks. Even the 6200 is a pretty crappy card, but it atleast supports SM3.0, and some can be unlocked to 6600s. For the price all of those cards are pretty bad, especially when you can get an X800-series card for around $75, and an X800/X850 XT for <$100. If you don't have PCIe or AGP, then you should upgrade your motherboard anyways, if you want to play at decent quality settings, PCI isn't going to cut it.

As a "computer performance tech" with your extensive knowledge you should know that the x1300 is as fast as a PCI card gets, with a 6200 a little worse.

What PC doesn't at least have AGP on it?

Anyway. I played with a 9200SE for a long time. Basically a 9200 on a drop or two of acid (note, only a drop or two) and was OEM only so you won't find much info on it.

Anyway, I overclocked it to the extent that after a year of use and it tended to smell of burning during play (yes, it did begin to have problems, even with extra cooling).

You can view screenshots of how the game looked at:
http://www.touringnet.co.uk/gallery/index.php?Qwd=./Halo/Bloo dgulch&Qif=allvsall.JPG&Qiv=none&Qis=M

It's all useful because the card is pretty close to that 6200 you're looking at. That was running on 800x600 with full details at roughly 30 FPS if I remember correctly. 1024x768 was pretty good too, but had an annoying stutter every now and again. Having said that, it was overclocked (as stated earlier).

As for games other than Halo, it wasn't half bad I suppose. We're talking medium to low details at a resolution of 800x600. Not sure how it would do with the newest of new games as I've not used that card for a long time (up until around Doom 3).

Anyway, hope that helps! :)

Dell PCs dont have any video card slot as far as I know. I think they all run integrated 0_o

Btw, to the guy who said that their video card pwns mine. Tbh, I dont think it does, cause my vid card can go alot faster, it just cant, because of the overall slow comp that I have. My vid card is a Shader 3.0 card with glassy camo and xbox style detail. I now run Halo at 1280x1024 res and am going to keep it at that because the detail pwns :D

Not all Dell PCs have integrated cards and a lot have upgradeable slots whether it be PCI-e or AGP

I dont wanna sound rude but what are you thinking even wondering if you can pay the mail carrier? 1st of all they dont have 1 guy go all across the US so that means he wont be able to give your money to newegg... 2nd you cant make an order till you pay them 1st. The only way to do it by cash is to send in your money through mail with your order. Then it will take probably a month just for you to get your graphics card.

The 6200 would probably play the game decently. I used to play halo PC when it 1st came out with a 1Ghz 384 ram and 5200 PCI. I had high particle and texture, shadows and specular off at 640 480 with an average of 20 fps in a 16 player game.. So Id imagine a 6200 would play it much better then that.

P.S. Why does everyone keep saying that FX series cards are crappy and suck? Mine works like magic! (This is not meant to be a argumentative or hostile question, I just wondered?)

Some companies offer a COD (cash on delivery) payment option. I used to work in a postal outlet so I would see these every once in a while. His question may seem a little strange but its certainly not entirely off-base.

How many companies actually offer this service nowadays remains unknown..and if I had to guess, my guess would be "not many", but the possibility exists.

I am sorry but I couldnt post a new topic on this forum for some reason as the post new topic button didnt appear. Anyway, will 1gb of Ram and duel core processor and a nvidia geforce 7300 LE which has 512mb be enough for a decent game of Halo. I am also buying a card at the end of the year and double the Ram. Would it be better for me to get a geforce 7800GTX or see if a 8600GT comes out if they decide to make one of them?
