How were the weapons better? They basically dumbed all of them down to make way for dual-wielding. I dont know about you but i liked being able to shotty someone from more than 3 feet away.

I have walked among men and angels for three thousand years. Time has no end... no beginning... no purpose.
I wander the earth, seeking forgiveness for my horrible crimes against God and man.
I live to see death, destruction, over the light, but the light cannot be extinguished.
I live in a prison of my own demise.
I am lost in time. -Gravemind-

I didn't fully appreciate Halo1 until I played Halo 2. Halo1 has a very classic feel to it.

I have got to say I prefer Halo 2 because of the dual-weilding weapons, use of energy sword, battle rifle, more vehicles (and upgraded previous vehicles), and really sweet multiplayer (especially on live).

Halo: Combat Evolved > Halo: -blam!-ness Evolved(2)

  • 01.05.2007 8:52 PM PDT

Basically it's a tie. Everyone keeps saying that halo's campaign was awesome, while halo 2's multiplayer was awesome. So there you go. Enough talk about that. The gameplay seemed to be much more fun for halo than halo 2, but you have to remember, halo always seem better than halo 2 because that was the very first time you ever got to play halo. I remember some one in the forums said that the old star wars were better than the new ones because the old ones were the first ones that any of us saw. That is why halo is so much better than halo 2.

Both have good and bad things. But overall, I would put Halo 2 for its Multiplayer.

It is like a %50.1 and %49.9 differiantal rate though...

  • 01.05.2007 11:56 PM PDT

Still it's 50-50

It just depends entirely on what you preference is between the two games.

Like i said before, everyone has their own preference to what they like and don't like in the two games.

Basically Halo > Halo 2. Everyone keeps saying that halo's campaign and multiplayer was awesome, while halo 2 sucked balls.

Fixed.

Halo 1 was great with it's unique graphics, and environment. But could I sometimes got lost when I first played it, and how slow moving vehicles, like a banshee, touching it would kill you, and I can't stress how much I hated that, along with the fact that tanks, as well as other vehicles didn't protect you at all from enemy fire, especially against the jackals.

Halo 2 Had a fun campaign, with a arbitor to enhance the halo universe, and bring delimma, and show how the covenant work. Along with it's skulls to allow fun things to happen. See purgatory below on my sig. to see why skulls can be so fun.

But Halo 2 didn't have large environments, although it was impossible to get lost in the game. Aim assist did help a lot, but the AI had it as well, and I didn't like how legendary became nearly impossible to beat, along with the introduction of Jackal snipers.

yea
the jackals
my friends and i dub them the "turkeys"
they are always a thorn in the side

Get back to work this ain't no picnic

Even though Halo had the marine pistol and combat rifle Halo 2 is still better and more fun espesially with online and expansions

  • 01.06.2007 9:00 PM PDT

The reason why Halo 2's multiplayer seems more fun is that not only it's online, but it's more fast-paced than in Halo 1, such as the obsolete health packs.

Was it really more fast paced? Tell me then why a 2v2 in halo 2 takes 10-15 minutes to reach 30 kills when in halo 1 it takes 10-15 minutes to reach 50. The lack of the ability for both teams to know when each powerup will respawn slows the game down to a crawling pace in most cases. If you are going to say the game itself has a quicker pace in multiplayer then please provide some sort of proof.

Health packs were far from obsolete as well. The health system in Halo allowed for a team to be able to kill someone faster after they had already narrowly avoided death. This prevents Halo 2's method of just running away and hiding til you have full shields again. It forces you to play smarter when you have no health.

  • 01.07.2007 8:06 AM PDT

Well, then how do you explain jumping from extreme heights and come out unscathed? I was talking about the other aspects of the game. Like if your health is down, then you have to deviate from your current objective and go find a power up or health pack. That's what I mean fir fst paced. The elimination of humdrum objectives so that a player can focus on the main objective be it for ctf, slayer, or jugernaunt (hope i spelled it right.)

Let me get back to what you said first some other time, but I'm going to focus on what you said regarding the health packs.

I agree with you when you say that the health system in the first game allowed for a team to be able to kill someone faster after they had already narrowly avoided death, I agree with you there, and I think health packs encourage players to move around the map in search of the health pack while trying to avoid other enemies thus to discourage camping and such. It does force you to play smarter, and I agree there as well, but you forget one thing:

Halo 2 has a health bar. It's just invisible. Imagine that you have a battle rifle and are trying to kill another player. You fire at him a few times and his shields are drained. You try to finish him off but he still manages to get to cover even though you shot at his body numerous times. He hides for a while, lets his shields recharge, and you attack him again. He has full shields, but this time, he dies much faster. That's because when you nearly took him out the first time, his health went down.

This invisible health system is much like the first game's, with the exception that you slowly regain the health and once an estimate of 10-15 seconds have passed, your health will have fully regenerated. This is to help keep up the faster pace of Halo 2. With the absence of a visible health bar, it doesn't make the player think smarter, or be more wary of how many shots he can take as much as it can in the first game, but I just wanted you to know that there is a health system in Halo 2.

  • 01.07.2007 1:01 PM PDT

I didn't say that there wasn't a health bar in Halo 2, I was just stating that it is a little more fast paced than Halo 1. That's all. Halo 1 did require some more stratagie since it did require you to not jump from high places or regain full health, and it did keep you moving. I know that in Halo 2 you may have more campers, but the fact of the matter is that more sub objectives were eliminated in Halo 2, making you focus on the main one.

I know what your trying to say kim. I know there is a health bar underneath in the coding. I honestly dont think it is that big of a deal, but if there is a health system even if it regenerates or w/e then i would like to see that bar visibly deplete like the shield bar. I basically just want to know about where my health is and a bar would help that. If bungie is going to put in health anyway and just leave out the bar then whats the point.

Naturally, I would say Halo 2 was better simply because it is a sequel and meant to be better. However, for its circumstances, Halo 1 was unique and one of a kind. It set the standards for xbox.

Halo 2 is way better with boarding, no fall damage and XBOX LIVE!!!!! I hate all you halo 1 people who to this day go on and on about your "good old days" with halo 1 lans. Live is so much easier to do. Don't try to tell me fall damage adds stratagy and auto aim has ruined your life the only thing i really hate about halo 2 is the noob combo but halo one has the pistol so they are even there. Halo 2 is WAY better then halo1. Halo1 was a great game and i do like to whip it out once in a while but halo 2 has been here for years and halo 3 is coming soon, its time to move on i have a feeling the same people who think halo 1 is better then 2 will feel the same way about 3
