These are a few group ideas that I thought were exceptionally good. The first two aren't mine, but the last one is. I might add more I might not. Read them if you wish...they're pretty decent.

l. The first thing that I've heard, and thought was a really good idea if for gold text (such as Bungie Employees have on this site) for group founders. I think this would be a great idea. Why, because it would make the founder's comments, or threads show out more than just having every day same text. If the founder has something really important to say, post it in gold text.

For any member of a group, that has a rank that can mess up your group (marked with red in Security Roles). If the member has any one of these, they should have white text.

Simply put, if a member has Full Control in a group, he/she should have gold text. If the member has any one of the red marked abilities (other than Full Control), then he/she should have white text within the group's forums.

ll. This group improvement involves letting non-members be permitted to view the selected threads inside the forums of a group.

This specific improvement would be a great to view the group's rules and punishments or roles and promotions. Instead of making news, or articles the selected threads that include things such as roles and promotions and rules and punishments.

lll. This is my made up one, that would show how many posts have been posted in the week.

You know when you go to join a group, and it looks great and all, but you join and the last post was from the stone age? Well this group improvement would enable a member, and non-member to view how many posts have been submitted in the week. Nobody enjoys a group with no active members, and this is a quick easy way to prevent that.

I might add more. You guys can discuss and add some as well.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

Cool ideas, but wouldn't II make III pointless?

Actually, it wouldn't at all.

ll. States that the selected threads of a group will be viewable by non-members. The specific thread that is being showed to the public might be Stickies that are locked, and you can't reply to. For example Rules are started at the beginning of groups if I'm correct. If the thread is locked by the thread maker so that you can't post and only read. If you get where I'm going.

lll. This improvement allows non-members to be able to view the week's posts. This would help because if the group is an old one, and nobody has posted to it, what's the point of joining it? If the group has posts from the day the non-member is viewing it, then that probably means it's active and you'll want to join. If the group's last post was two years ago, then you might not want to bother joining.

I like your ideas. The first two have been tossed around for a time now, but the last one is one I've not heard before. You also did a good job explaining the first two. The only thing I'd like to add is every group would not fit well if the full control admin was forced to use gold text, and the moderators or lesser admins were forced to use white. The colors should be determined according to the colors of the group's theme.

I agree.

I would still like some kind of text thought to specify if the group's founder is posting, or if somebody else with a high admin besides full control.

I like that last one. As for Founders having gold text, I don't know. I would prefer having the ability to choose to use white or something like that. I know I (and other Group Founders no doubt) wouldn't want to be forced into using gold text.

I think founders should have the option to post in gold text.

Hopeful with the New Hawtness 2.0 that might come out sometime near the release of Halo 3, we'll see that update.

Having the option would make things more difficult. You'd probably have to select each post whether you would like your font color to be in gold, or regular like the others.

Or it could be a security option that could be changed by the Admin anytime needed. That would make more sence, rather than having them select/deselect each post.

A security option changed by the admin? Nah. If you give somebody enough power other than full control which enables the gold text then a lower grade member could be using gold text. It would be easier if it was just permanent for the founder, and only the founder.

Perhaps a bank of check boxes due right of the role names enabling gold text posting for that role. This could also work out for white text posting.

Or mabey, it has the option to turn on and off. On enabling gold text for administrators and white text for moderators. But then, it would raise the issue of which rank is admin and which is a moderator. Surely a "News Editor" wouldn't be considered a moderator since they would only be-able to edit news items.

Hmmm, how about gold text for the founder, and white text for all custom ranks?

You could make it work, but really, all of this is based on the current group system which will probabl change in the upcoming months.

Yeh I think that it would be a good Idea to have Gold Text for the chapter founders and white text for Moderators.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Whoa whoa whoa! Do you Private Message all members on Bungie!

I can't see that being allowed, but Private Messaging all members in a group that you founded maybe might be a possibility.

III would cause starting out groups to die. I think a basic Group activity meter would be good something that gives people a very rough idea about the groups activity. So people can tell if the group is active, slightly active or dead. Like:

Green(active group): Group has 7 or above replies to posts every week.
Grey-Green(Slightly active): Groups has only 0-6
Grey(dead): 0 replies

That way people can tell if people are actually posting stuff(or not) in the group. You could use this also to delete inactive groups that have members but no forum posting or activity.
-
Another good idea would be a PM all members button. It would force members to become active. They would have to limit it amount of All member PMs send though.

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

Anyhow, I don't think they should be color coded. The exact amount would be helpful to join or not.

Usually groups aren't that active anyways.

If you told exact numbers people would be put off small groups that are active for their size. I don’t care about the color coding as long as there’s something to tell you A.people are doing stuff in this group or B. this group is dead.
