No, sorry. Not gonna happen. Why would they release a demo of a game destined for a newer OS on an old, soon-to-be-outdated one?

Eh... maybe, but I still have a gut feeling that any demo for H2V will be Vista-only.

I never would have guessed that a demo for Halo 2 Vista would have only been on Vista. You are so very smart. Thank you. My life is changed.

The few, the proud, the leet.

Asking for such a thing this late in the development process is just unrealistic. They've been working with the unique APIs in Vista, integrated features dedicated to the OS, and are using a different DX9 build than that in XP.

Vista's sales aren't going to be determined by a single, ported-from-Xbox, slightly overhyped game with little new content. Don't get me wrong, while H2 is enjoyable, I will guarantee you that it will be the OS selling by itself, not through a game.

Then, you've gotta remember that the game was made for the Vista Operating System. To make a demo of the game avalible for XP would basically mean rewriting the game from the ground back up again. Bungie is a business, remember, and if they don't stand to make a profit out of it, why would they bother? To them (and any business,) it wouldn't make sense to devote time, energy, and resources in recreating a game just to produce a demo version. Especially since demos are, y'know, free.

I was wondering, perhaps a dumb question but will windows vista slow down a computer, like take a lot of resources? I'm a little hesitant to install it then.

Depends on your computer. Usually, computers with a processor speed of at least 1.6GHz, 512 RAM and a relatively new graphics card should suffer from little or no slowdown in performance. I would, however, certainly go for the higher specifications for optimal performance; think 2GHz processor, 1GB RAM and a relatively new graphics card.

If you still want Vista, you can still get the watered-down version with all Glass effects and visual eyecandy turned off. That should run fine if anything.

What it is.

what would be even better is a demo for Windows Vista RC1 and greater....that way we could have a taste before the release..
