It depends on the situation. If I'm somewhat interested in the topic, and it's huge, I'll leave. But if I'm really interested in it, I'll take the time to read it.

But the cornerstone of making something easy and enjoyable to read is the appearance. NEVER just type one consecutive, twenty lines-long stream of words, put them in paragraphs, put in formatting, add a few page breaks like

so.

See what I mean? Helps, doesn't it? This post I'm making could be one big, long, six line blob of text, but it isn't. I've separated it into bits and pieces to discriminate points and make it easier to read.

I'll read the first paragraph. After that, only if it looks intriguing.

If I like the topic and or 1st paragraph. I, sadly, white topics that are VERY long. I hope people read the whole thing because they need to.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

To long didnt read.

I read all the posts within a thread. Mainly to get a mix of ideas and compare them to my own thinking. If you do not read the entire thread, you will be lost. And someone may have already stated exactly what you, youself, was thinking.

Matt, you took the words right out of my mouth.

I'll generally read a long topic if it sounds interesting, for one. And it has to be in paragraphs because it's so easy to strain and lose track of what you're trying to read.

But yeah, when it's in paragraphs it makes for a much more enjoyable read. And a lot of the time they don't even seem that long as opposed to scrolling and just looking at the blocks of text.

Depends on what the topic is about. If it interests me, then I'll read it.

I feel the same way but not always.

I work at Microsoft. I have nothing to do with Halo and nothing I say is "the official word".

nope
unless it's something reaaaally interesting

Only if it's something that seems interesting enough to read about.

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

Often times when I click a thread, I read what it's about. Yes. Almost every thread I click on, I read. I rarely post and when I do the response is either stupid, or helpful. :)

If it's stretched out to 10+ pages already... probably not. It's kinda hard to jump in on a "epic" thread when you are coming in on page 11. Plus, I dont want to have to ready through 10 page's of post to find out I really dont have anything to contribute.

I usually avoid them, as people who can't say things in under one paragraph obviously don't no how to be concise.

Yeah, that's me. Hi.

If the post is well presented, and gets my attention, I'll usually read through it. If I have an opinion on the topic that I want to share, I'll read through most of the other posts as well so I don't just repeat something someone else has said.

If it's boring after the first few sentences I stop reading. Or if the long post is by a ninja. Lots of white text hurts my eyes...

ya I only read the long posts by ninjas and B members.

Do you ever read any of the topics that have like 10 paragraphs and it takes up your whole computer screen? I for one don't. I just read the posts and get what the topic is about.

I do the same thing, if it's a long fanfic, I read like two paragraphs so I get what the rest will be like. And I follow along with what other people say about it.

Good to see at least somebody takes this place seriously

I am sincerely disappointed in everyone except JIMH. JIMH, have a gold star.

I usually don't reply to topics that are longer than two pages unless I was there from the start. As for the long posts, I will only read if it is by someone I know or if the topic intrigues me.
