Subject: Halo 2 Pc should not only be for Vista

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

It is a bit unfair because not everyone is going to be able to convince the whole family that the pc needs vista, they could at least make it Xp compatible as well...

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

This is, what, the 44th thread about this topic? Bungie does what they please, and they can abort the project at any time.

The few, the proud, the leet.

When you're a developer, and you have the option of developing on a superior platform, you take it. If you can't get Vista right off hand, keep saving it. Seeing how there hasn't been any RTM announcements, updates, or barely a mention of it in a while, it's not likely it's to come out within a month and a half. Until then, keep saving up. If you learn to work the system, you can get a copy of Vista Premium for under 125 USD.

I'm there but, man this is really starting to sound like communism.
Long live the MAW.

lordlayalot- be thankfull that your system will in most probibilty actually run Vista and Halo 2 Vista. Be thankfull that Bungie/Microsoft has considered to do such a project with most gamers on the console. besides, i heard that Vista was a great system with the new security, Mac'ish looks to programs, and of course Direct X 10.

He's probably right, it's probably going to be needing more powerful software to handle the upgrades from the Xbox version. That, or their trying to force us to get Vista, just to play it.

Oh for -blam!- sakes. Another god damn "Make Halo2 for XP" thread.

It's not unfair to make a game for the next generation of PC OS technology. It's called good business sense. XP is on it's deathbed, and no amount of crying, whining, or -blam!-ing is going to change that.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Nobody said gaming was going to be cheap. I'm not saying that it's a good thing if Microsoft likes to rip people off of their money, but you know, they're supposed to make money, after all, they're not a charity. They make money to put five-thousand dollar bread on the fifty-thousand dollar gold-plated antique table. It doesn't matter if Halo 2 would run just as well on XP or not, the fact is that it is much better overall in terms of progress if Halo 2 is made Vista-exclusive. Progress is the result. Windows XP is dying, and everybody will have to move to Vista eventually.

Oh, by the way, one thing about your argument is something that really irritates me. "It is a bit unfair because not everyone is going to be able to convince the whole family that the pc needs vista"? Has it ever occurred to you that not "everyone" is a nine-year-old kid who wants their mommies and daddies to buy them expensive computers and software? You know, like the vast amount of PC gamers who have jobs that can save up for money to buy not only a copy of Vista and Halo 2, but a good PC and gaming peripheals and whatnot in general?

Pinch your pennies, dude.

Ever wonder what Vista looks like? Go Wiki!

And if you actually get down into the system itself, you'll actually find a far more secure platform than WinXP in terms of actual structure and OS design. I'm no expert, but I heard they revamped the OS from the ground up to make it more secure and integrated. Going from XP to Vista is sorta like the jump from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. A big difference in a big way.

However, all that being said, I will be holding off on my purchase of Vista until they iron out all the kinks that are certain to happen with the release of any new OS. (This goes for any company, not just Microsoft...first versions are essentially Uber-Betas that you pay for.) That, and if you hold off just a bit, they're certain to drop the price a bit as well.

Why don't you just go out and buy an upgrade version of Vista, which simply upgrades XP to Vista, for about half the cost of the full OS...? Not all PC Gamers ask their parents for stuff all the time, most of us buy our own gaming equipment with our own earn't money, be it a chores allowance or a job. If you're too young to get money in either of those two ways, then you are most definitely too young to be playing Halo 2 in the first place. I've only just let my 12 year old sister play Halo 1 for PC.

Widnows XP is dying? Damn it! We just got a comp that could run Halo:PC and CE with crappy graphics and runs really slow and you're telling me its outdated?! Oh well. Seeing as I only am the casual player I don't need all the high end crap. Bungie only makes it on Vista since it is better and M$ probably pays them to make it on their new platform.

It's like I want Forza 2 for the 360 but I don't own a 360 so I either buy a 360 or don't whine.

Halo 2 Vista is there way of garunteeing some sucess with a new OS. Requirements wise, it can run fine on XP and Mac, but they're binding it to Vista to make some cash.

Agreed anyways though.

I knew it! they are trying to get people to upgrade to Vista. But if it works on XP, then I'm just getting the game; not Vista.

So what if they are? You would do the same thing in thier position. Besides, do you think one damn game is going to be high on the list of features that will make Vista sell? Get a clue.

I have a clue, I have many clues; I don't know where they all are. But Vista will have other features for other reasons. I just don't wanna waste extra money on Vista if it can play on XP.

You may be confused here, they're NOT going to make any other version other than Vista. It will NOT work on XP; they're BINDING it to Vista. That means if it doesn't detect Vista, it WON'T run. It's there way of getting a bit more revenue out of Vista. Vista is quite radical, and it's Microsoft's way of monopolizing the market. Monopolizing is a little exagerated, but it's damn close.

Jeezus H Chrizt dude. Halo 2 isn't being made for Vista to increase sales of the Operating System. What deluded world are you from? Vista doesn't need Halo 2 to sell it. Who would be stupid enough to shell out roughly $200 for an OS just to play the game? I'm sure there will be a few, but not that many.

Again let me restate: Bungie isn't making Halo 2 PC for Vista to get people to buy Vista. Bungie is making Halo 2 PC for Vista because Vista will be a better Operating System.

Lol, no duh.

I'm not saying Halo 2 is going to be the main reason Vista sells. I'm just saying it's going to help some.

Why flame them? They are right to complain that it is only for Vista, what Vista requires of your computer is unnecessary and over the top. It is a blatant and selfish act to make money, exploiting their fans to the fullest. Sure there is nothing they can do about it, but they have the right to complain.

CMT Mod team leader

I was glad to hear it's vista only. Now us modders don't have to support you people with bad computers. Less work and more engine pushing for us.
