Actually, I'm looking more to Bioshock than Crysis.

That's just me. Oh, and Bioshock is also Vista exclusive.

Some people bought an Xbox just to play Halo. =\ That's all I've got left to say.

Hm...that may be, but I highly doubt that it's going to work that way for PC. To expand on what Kim said, a 360 Premium is about 350 or so dollars. And you're getting a system with two controllers, simple operation and no hassle. You'll need to shell out almost the same amount, and that's just for an operating system. Obviously, there's the cost of the computer to begin with, the cost of upgrades (especially for the average user), and the pain-in-the-ass of installing and making sure all your stuff transfers over without problems.

In short, a single, slightly-overhyped port of a game is not going to sell an OS. Considering all the Vista-optimized games (Bioshock, Crysis, etc.), H2V comes off as a seeming afterthought, almost an "Oh yeah, Vista also does H2 as well."

=====><=====

On the flip side, though, I do see where dbz is coming from...after seeing that every purchase of the 360 title "Crackdown" would come with a key to beta H3, you sorta get the feeling that Microsoft is essentially selling you a 45 dollar beta of H3. It wouldn't be too hard to see the possible connection here with H2 and Vista.

Ranting is for noobs. If you can see why it wont happen, and nothing you can do will change that, then there is no point in ranting. There is no point in arguing over this, and I fail to see why this thread is 3 pages long.

If people will shell out 400 dollars for a console to play h3, pc users wont care about 200$ for vista. I don't care much for the h2 game, but being able to have the Editing Kit with no game files is worth 250$ for me.

I'm going with the $100 basic. I get the feeling the other versions will be bloated. But you do present a point.

Wow all these responses and no one has figured it out yet. Some people got close when they went down the *It would probably sell better if it was on XP because there is a bigger market* road. I believe this to be a true statement, but the *they want to sell more OS's* is not the reason. They do not need a game to sell a Windows Operating system! So why would they do purposely make it exclusive to Vista which will not be mainstream for another year or more? One reason may be that it is a pain in the arse to program for two different OS, so they picked the newer one. But that still doesn't satisfy the marketing department. There something else. What have they mentioned in almost every H2V update they have put out? What is the most lucrutive type of game these days?

Anyone? Anyone?....

How about the teaming masses of mindless zombies that waste half there life trapsing around the World of Warcraft? How bout the fact they spend $10/month doing it! Its called reoccuring revenue and thats what gaming studios want. Instead of popping you once for $50 they bleed you dry over a year for $10/month.

Live Anywhere.

Halo2Vista isn't a Vista launch title, it's a Live Anywhere launch title. Months ago when they were sitting around the board room thinking of PC games they could put on the Live Anywhere service and somebody said "We need to find a really great game to launch it like we had with Halo on the X-box." And then the room fell silent, as everyone thought of the same thing, lets put Halo2 on Vista so we can have one of the most popular games of all time helping us to sell Live Anywhere subscriptions. I honestly believe they didn't have plans to bring Halo2 to the PC until Live Anywhere got thought up.

They popped everyone for $50 to buy Halo2 but then they popped them again when they bought the year subscription to Xbox Live for another $60. Halo2 has been out two years now how many of those players have renewed there subscriptions? They have potentially gotten $170 from each of the millions of copies of Halo2 they have sold. Thats why Halo2 is coming out on Vista because Live Anywhere is coming out for Vista.

Oh and Aero Storm, what makes you think you can my avatar?

Anyone would go out and get an Xbox and Halo 2 if they wanted it that bad and didn't have a PC.

I know there will be people who drop $100 on a version of Vista just to play Halo 2. There will be people who'll do it, and Microsoft knows it. You're right, many people won't just get Vista to play Halo 2, but it is a helper.

And I have many avid friends who play video games. Many were dropping a couple hundred for a crappy CPU, memory, and video card so they could play games like Q3.

EDIT: Another stupid person.

Do any of you know how many RANTS I've seen on the new Vista OS?

Do you know how many people I know who are going to boy cott it?

How many SITES of seen?

No you don't, and I don't even count anymore. Microsoft is making a HUGE jump with Vista. Numerous companies aren't upgrading because they see now reason why they should. Neither do many home PC owners.

Yes, you are ALL correct in saying the future of Vista doesn't rest on a PC game.

But having Halo 2 Vista exlusive sure does help.

Oh wait. What do you know, Live Anywhere. Yea, maybe Microsoft was smart enough to have Halo 2 use BOTH Vista and Live Anywhere. Hmmm..

What I find funny is many of those people who are probably going to "boycot" Vista, fall into a few categories...

1. They are deviod of any actual knowledge of computers and are passing judgement based upon what other people have SAID about Vista, forgetting Talk is Cheap.

2. They probably spent $400 on a 360, or even $600 on a PS3 and then buy COUNTLESS games after that and pay for subscriptions to all kinds of online gaming set ups.

Most people probably don't even realize that if they bought a computer in the last three or even four years, that they MIGHT be able to run the less hardcore versions of Vista. WHO THE -blam!- SAID YOU HAD TO HAVE THE BEST OF EVERYTHING. I certiantly don't have the best and ANYTHING that I want I have to pay for. My new $2000 computer THAT I DON'T NECCESARILY NEED, I'm buying. I'm getting ready to look into a new car, DO YOU THINK THAT'S CHEAP?!??! I could easily build a computer that will run Vista for probably less than half of what I'm going to buy. I just want to make sure that I have a good computer, I also have the resources to do so. Like I said if your computer is somewhat recent it might be able to run Vista, there is still hope you must merely look at it from the proper angle. Even if it can't you could probably easily upgrade it for decent amounts of money.

Stop -blam!-ing, get off your lazy ass, and get out there and find a way. If you are young, and can't get a job, Guess what???? YOU ARE TO YOUNG TO BE PLAYING THE -blam!- GAME ANYWAY. Yeah I said it, kiss my ass you know I'm right. If you are the ACTUAL age it requires than you can get a job. OOO BOO HOO DEMIGOD I'm IN HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE AFTERSCHOOL SPORTS?!?! Well guess what guys? It's called priorities, if your priority is gaming, then get off your lazy ass and get a job you bum, if you priority is school, and I hope it is, then stay and school and when you can get a job, then you get a job.

Bottom Line It all come down to how bad you want it and what you are willing to do, to get it.

If you aren't willing to make it happen then don't blame Microsoft, or Bungie, or Gearbox, or the netcode because you want something just the way YOU want it...

because HEY, GUESS WHAT?????? To microsoft, one person, like you, DON'T MEAN ONE GOD DAMN BIT!! They are not going to change for just YOU, YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT, the will of the masses are. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I know some of it sounds cold, but hey, that's life; full of dissapointments and forsaken desires, It all comes down to how you look at it.

Yes, I know that, and so do many others here.

That would be a pretty good argument, Iggwilv, if it weren't for the fact that in one of Bungie's Weekly Updates Matt Priestley confirmed that "you'll be able to play H2V online and even interact with your friends on the Xbox 360 at zero cost."

Yea, knowing how cheap my parents are...Microsoft gotta make it for XP as well. Though I'll need a new PC soon, so I might as well try to get Vista with it...is Vista even out yet, or have there been delays, as I expected?

The code has been complete since November, but it doesn't hit retail stores until January 31st.
