I find it truly sad how Halo has become such a cash-in. Making people go and buy another game just to play a demo? I hope Bungie feel guilty that some of their fans in, in a nutshell, will be paying $60 for a demo. You can argue that Bungie isn't forcing anyone to do anything but for some poor folk, a chance to play an early version of Halo is worth this. Doesn't take a label on the box to tell you that Bungie is owned by the #1 money maker who doesn't care about their customers. Bungie talk about ruling the world, well, your already ripping the world off, congratz....

The info in the Crackdown news release suggests that the beta invitations will be valid in Europe as well as the rest of the world - excerpt from it reads "Crackdown is scheduled to hit store shelves across the planet on Feb. 20, 2007. When the Halo 3 multiplayer beta surfaces in spring 2007, owners of Crackdown simply need to load their copy of Crackdown into their Xbox 360, use the disc as a key to download the Halo 3 multiplayer beta from Xbox Live Marketplace, and join the battle."

As I live in England, here's hoping!

Yeah i'm hoping too, will most likely have to buy this crackdown rubbish, and yet am not sure whether it'll allow me play halo 3 or not. Seems a bit sh**y how bungie seem to be ripping people off at every oppurtuinity, but then again the xbox360 seems to be just one big advertisment with the ability to "BUY" updates for your games. BUY? What's up with this? Charging people for the gaming experience.

Maybe halo 3 will be worth it, Maybe bungie will take there thumb out and stop some of the thousands of modders still playing on halo2, or maybe they'll implement a feedback system that if nothing else, gives a user the impression that they'll look at it, at least.

OK, yes, it is very true that I'm a dumb ass. I'm not denying that. However, isn't the whole point of a beta to increase the amount of users until you get someone dumb enough to try something you haven't anticipated.

Anybody know if the Beta will allow guests?
Cause I can only play online at a friends house.

Anyone who purchases the upcoming Xbox 360 game “Crackdown” will get automatic entry into the Halo 3 beta. If you have a Crackdown disc you’ll be able to activate and download the beta once it goes live next Spring.

I'm hoping this is just a failure to adapt to it being 2007. If not, is this a discrete way of saying that the beta (and Halo 3) won't be released until 2008?

If you think the beta is released in 2008, you're a very silly silly boy. Stay in school. We're still in winter at the moment.

I'm a few months from being 17, so I can't enter the beta like most people are... so let's hope I count as an "active member" :-)
Which is a problem, because GoW just came out and until now I've been playing on my friend's accounts. Well I guess it's back to Halo 2 for the moment. Thanks Bunige for all the ways to enter the Beta, and congrats to those who get in!

nice... the americans get there keys this month but the europeans need to wait before we can even sign up. good job bungie.

Yes, the europe/america situation is a bit funny... but then... Im from Britain. Well done Scott2k44, I'm sure everybody here is thrilled by your flagrant racism. Go enjoy yourself, go on, like, a LONG way away from these forums where NOBODY wan't to listern to your bull-blam!-

since you clearly misread my post

i to am British, i dont / wont complain about the whole british american thing since most of the americans ive come across seem fairly decent.

the sales in america are indeed higher than europe however bungie will need to get a large audience for the game anyway so offering it to Europe is an advantage.

as for being racist..... k well whatever floats your boat because what i said wasnt racist.

Some extremely awesome news!
Getting into the Pre-BETA thing would be ultimately the win. But chances are Crackdown will be in my hands upon release xD.

This isn't merely a sneak peak at Halo 3 we're talking about. This is a one time experience that you might will talk about for years. Seriously, like all those people who claim they were at Woodstock.

This isn't just a "demo," as some have called it. It's a beta. It involves understanding requests, following through and properly submitting feedback. Then as reward you get to see a bit of how the process of refinement works. For many of us this is our first ever glimpse at game development.

So, all the spoil sports out there, just buy the game at full release, but don't ruin the fun of the experience for the rest of us.

Its not a once in a life time experience, you'll be experiencing a hell of a lot come the actual release. You say its not a demo...

demo /de'moh/ 1. A demonstration of a product, often of an early version or prototype. A demo is a far more effective way of inducing bugs to manifest themselves than any number of test runs, especially when important people are watching.

Jees, erm, that sounds a lot like the Halo beta. First glimpse at game development? The game will be almost fully developed by the time the beta comes out, all they'll be changing is how the network and matchingmaking options work, none of the 'core' game will be changed.

P.S. i actually think crackdown looks like one hell of a fun game :)

Running Riot

In a recent discussion about the value of games, my friend saw a game as worthy of buying if the game would equate fun and monies. Too much monies and not enough fun was bad. Less monies for more fun was always better, but the possibility of paying an average sum and getting something truly unbelievably fun was possible. He said, "If I cannot get fourty hours of fun in a fourty dollar game, it's not worth buying". If games cost as much as the time a user would spend, Halo 2 is far more than Fifty, five hundred, and likely five thousand hours. I wonder how much I would have spent on Halo 2 with my combined hours. [Dollar Sign]

Kill maim'N Destroy!

As well, when “Crackdown” hits store shelves, gamers eager to take home a copy of the highly anticipated exclusive action title for Xbox 360 will find marked boxes of “Crackdown” that include an invite to participate in the coveted “Halo 3” multiplayer beta program when it becomes available.

I have two quick yet important questions:

1: does 3 hours of gaming in halo 2 mean 3 hours of actual gameplay or do matchmaking and party waiting lobbies count?

2: for the registration of 13,333 on Halo3.com, would you have to have been one of the original participants when registration opened up, or is it registration/reregistration after the 3 hours of gameplay?

Kill maim'N Destroy!

Not an official answer. But its safe to asume that it is 3hours of total gameplay time. The first registry is over those people have been selected and a new registry will open on or after Feb. 1-3.

A witty signature you say ! ? well at the moment i have nothing witty that springs to mind, so sory..................nope still nothing.......

sounds cool frankie.

but to be be honest it's blantently obvious that microsoft are trying to boost sales of crack down by having the the beta on selected versions of the game wich is a little bit tacky if u ask me, but atleast everyone gets a chance to play the beta (even though peolple would have to shell out 50 for the game though). and microsoft know thay will be making serious money, sales will go through the roof if halo 3 is involved !

But hay ! I'm really looking foward to halo 3, even if i dont end up playing the beta
