Sounds good, Frankie. I may consider purchasing Crackdown, just to be a little extra safe.

"You're never gonna fight me, I'll wipe the world away"

I have a question, why not make the "public" beta actually open to whoever wants to download it? Why have all these processes to get in?

  • 01.03.2007 12:04 PM PDT

Well we can tell Microsoft are in charge of this. Bungie wouldn't be such morons thats for sure! Beta tests on PC have always been: Launch, People Download it, Close. Why the hell can't this be the same?!

Because I am just totally working on that hygenic part. Not sure if you can tell yet. I brushed my hair today and I totally plan on doing so again tomorrow. Toothpaste - yes! Toenails: completely manicured! This post-alpha pre-beta is mine now!!! wuahahaha...

I agree. It was like that with Phantasy Star Universe. It came up the marketplace, you download it , then after a few days they take it off the marketplace.

Microsoft has goals in mind with this type of registering :

-Get good sales on a crappy , first party title

-Make Halo 2 the #1 played XBL game again.

Everyone is asking such good questions (for once). Please answer them bungie, these are important.

Now I know Bungie dosn't have say in this, but can't they use theere creative control to have some say?? The only people that are going to be in this beta are..
a) Fanatics
b) People rich enough to drop $60 on a game just for the beta

Niether of these will give you good feedback. This is going to skew the results big time! Don't let Microsoft's quest for riches ruin the beta!!

If people get chosen for the extended Alpha, will they move on and get the Beta as well?

Ha ha ha, they are really getting silly now. There is no way I am going to debase myself by playing three hours in the middle of the night and/or buying a game I have never heard of simply to possibly participate in a beta test that may not even be real authentic gameplay.

Sigh.

Of course I am.

Somewhere, there is a bunch of MGS guys in a room laughing their butts off.

"No, really, we can get these Halo geeks to do ANYTHING to be in the beta. I mean chicken-head-biting, sitting on thumbtacks, circus sideshow things."
"You mean, like, Jackass stuff?"
"...make 'em post it on YouTube!"
"I like a good laugh as much as the next guy, but the marketing angle sounds better to me...what about they have to have a new PC with Windows Vista and Office bought before March 1?"
"...and a Zune!"
"So by the time they actually get the real Halo3 in November, they will have already spent, oh, $1700 on unrelated merchandise?"
"They'll do it."
"Yeah, they will."
"Crying in gratitude."

"You're never gonna fight me, I'll wipe the world away"

Heres another burning question, wont this make a lot of people who wanted to play but werent chosen mad, which would cause a catastrophic meltdown of the Bungie forums?

You want to know what it'd be like to have no moderators on this site? Try this easy to prepare simulation.
Step 1: Procure yourself an intact box, something a fridge or similarly large appliance.
Step 2: Fill cardboard box halfway with feral cats. One or two should be rabid.
Step 3: Climb inside the box, closing the top behind you.
Step 4: Begin screaming and thrashing wildly at the cats.

This is going to be sweet.

But if you have already registered on Halo3.com, will I have to register again after the three hour play?

Is Bungie going to take feedback from competitive players or just casuals? Will the competitive players get a chance to speak there mind so H3 won't make the same mistake again and won't appear to the lowest common denominator a la Halo2?

So basically Bungie is going to pick and choose on a biased draw so only the lowest common denominator will only get to play it and the hardcore players will have no say in the way the game shapes.

there is not point in saying hey i got a 40- HIGH RANK MEANS NOTHING, it means you either bridged host or cheated...and the skillfull player like myself have 27s cause of cheating.

Gamertag: StlcKs <-- i is an "L"

Wow, I didn't think it would be that easy to get in.

I don't know about that. :/

Do you think you can handle my gigantic COC?
~!TheHalo3D!~
-If your car could travel at the speed of light, would your headlights work?
-What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
-I intend to live forever; so far, so good.

Since I have no luck getting picked for anything that I like (Hope I'm not jinxing it there.... I'm just going to buy myself Crackdown (I was gona buy it anyways though)

Does anyone know if it's only 'Specially marked boxes' or if you'll be able to just get any copy and DL it from the Market Place

just fyi (to everyone here) in general, once you push a beta into the thousands (and tens of thousands), the focus shifts from gameplay to networking, matchmaking, Xbox Live, etc...

not to say that there won't be feedback on gameplay, but the goal is *usually* to identify gameplay issues at alpha.

of course, insofar as networking affects gameplay (i.e. lag), gameplay will still be very important. And so will the OPINIONS of everyone involved.

plus they'll find any number of things which can crop up once you've got a rabid community of fans playing a game.

Unless I am completely a bald-faced liar!

I think what you'll see a lot of (and I'll probably do) is people will buy Crackdown, and trade it back to Gamestop when the beta is over. It will be like paying $20 for the beta.
