so what was the whole point of signing up on halo3.com back in december. i signed up, and now i have to buy crackdown, or play in the middle of the night. haven't i spent enough time and money on my 360, to only have it break, now i have to pay to play a beta. they should give the beta to people who's 360s break and need to go through the lengthy process of repair. and then i get viva pinata when my gears of war disc is scratched, wtf, gears=pinata. when will we know if we are "selected" to participate in the beta?

I dont mean to -blam!-, but im in europe. The Halo3.com site said that europen gamers would soon be able to sign up like the north american ones could, and then now all of a sudden we get this sprung on us: buy crackdown if you want to play it. I mean wtf? Right so basically there is shameful bias towards people living in north america over everybody else on the planet? Im afraid im not happy about this one bungie, sorry.

it does dude, but why do I have to pay £50.00 when gamers from america get to sign on for free? The truth is "Crackdown" is going to be a complete flop, and so Microsoft is using its greatest asset, bungie, to flog a product that they know will otherwise not sell. Its sad, bungie dont actually need this -blam!-.

OK, so the first method was US only. The rule of three thing is US only.

Is the Crackdown method worldwide?! ?!?! ?!

I'm guessing US only too.

An answer would be appretiated. Thanks.

There is only one problem. Most people have to go to school so can they move the 3 hours of gameplay days to like a weekend like Febuary3-6 or something. I think it would be great. Thanks for updating us.

Anyone who purchases the upcoming Xbox 360 game “Crackdown” will get automatic entry into the Halo 3 beta.

And in one sentence, Crackdown sales increase tenfold.

I for one would rather keep the date as it is. Children who whine should read the Halo 3 beta rules. You must be over the age of 17 to participate. Setting the date over a school day was probably done with you in mind. Beta testing is meant to be a way for the users to test out the game and report their feedback on it. Not to say that kids cannot give good suggestions, but I, myself, would be more conferable consenting with an adult about their feedback as opposed to a child.

Do we need a USB keyboard for our Xboxes to leave feedback. Or could you just browse to our community forums and read our thoughts there?

They will probally have it on the bungie forms or something, but thats just a guess:-P

Great News!!

I do have one question though, if Crackdown comes out on Feb 20, does that mean the beta will be released?? At least in testing phase, since the article does state there will be a pre-beta-beta of sorts.

Thanks.

Jonolche, do you think there are higher powers at work here? I sense a definate push by microsoft to shift their poor IP by bundling it with something of much higher interest: Halo3 obviously. I too hope I get a chance to play and feedback on this beta, I myself am an avid game developer. I just feel slightly pushed out by the bias towards north american gamers. Even the way this was anounced left me with a bitter feeling: It was as if they were saying that if we wanted a second chance to try and get a place then there were another 2 copout methods... well being in europe I had no chance in the first place!! How unfair.

Microsoft and Bungie understand how many millions of people will want to be part of this beta, and yet instead of conducting the selection process with any semblance of impartial fairness, it's turning into a chaotic circus. Buy a completely unrelated game for guaranteed entry?! This seems to be as close to exploitation of Bungie fans as I've ever seen, and I don't really like it.
