You can't play halo 1 on widescreen in 720p on the 360. You get black bars down the sides. It sucks. You have to turn it down to 480p.

So who thinks 'they', being the 360 emulator team or whoever does these things, should sort it out? Apparently they're going to have another go at the Halo 2 emulator for 360 - good thing too as the new maps will be 360 only. A great time to fix one of the few glaring problems with the old game maybe?

I would like that. Halo for HD all the way.

I remeber the first time I put H1 into my 360 with that 360 halo anniversary update, and played the game in full wide screen, at 720p, with full scene anti-aliasing. But soon after another update came out an now I see black-bars...its a real shame they had to do that to thier own update and ruin it for old/new 360 users. Here check this link and read the full article and check out the screen shots, its the real McCoy. Perhaps one day they will restore it or improve upon it...well heres hoping

That's pretty interesting, good find.

If it was alright when you first put it in.. perhaps deleting the cached downloaded halo 1 files from the 360 (which I think can be done) will have it run the way it did before? I'm going to try it out and post what I find.

I really hope that when they redo the halo 2 emulator to go with the new halo 2 maps, they will take the time to fix this small problem which is the only thing holding back the enjoyment of Halo on the 360 for many.

I like me.

Don't you just have to switch your 360 to 480p and back?

However, I'd still take a 720p halo 1 update if it was offered.

Yes. That's the problem! 720p would look tangibly nicer. It was supposed to be there, so I hope they put it right.

I tired to get rid of the cache and even deleted my save files, no luck...I guess I'll just have to see if they ever get around to putting it right someday.

I also had a poke around. I had not actually played halo on my own new 360 yet, and couldn't find any halo files to delete! So wherever it is it would appear we can't get at it.

Did you try clearing the entire cache with that special button code, is that what you meant? This supposedly clears all software updates, I was hoping that might include the halo emulator.

However, it needs an emulator to play it in the first place.... I have a feeling you would have to download it again to play the game, and of course you would get the latest version.... it seems there is no way to roll back to the previous emulator.
