I was just reading some of the wrightup's of Halo 2 and a few of them comment on how the speed of the multiplayer differs, I would like to know if the multiplayer combat has spead up or slowed down? (or It may still be the same I have no Idea thats why i'm asking you)

I think It has definately Sped up (from seeing videos ect.) because most of the guns are now much faster than they was in Halo, for example the plasma rifle and the needler have had their rate of fire increased. they are both like some sortof plasma machineguns. Also, the boosting feature on the ghost has sped things up also.

I think the speed of gameplay is about the same.

The framerate will probably be around 25-30, like in Halo 1. Of course I get a silky smooth framerate that never drops below 64 on maximum settings in Halo PC on my super ninja rig

yeah, the framerate is good in Halo 1, except sometimes when the'res alot of gunning between the humans and the chef fighting side by side covenant -blam!-
the framerate dips just a bit... you can tell

The Framerate will probably be better, especially since a lot of ppl gave them shi.t cuz it didnt run at 60 fps. It was bs but bungie willl probably speed up the fps to at least 60. Its not like it matter anyways.

Kinda off topic, but on the XBox version, if you keep melee'ing a dead elite or jackal (I'm talking around 20 or 30 melees here), the frame rate drops to like 2 fps.

Halo 1 had a framerate of 30 frames per second and thats what made it slower than games like Unreal Championship which has a rate of 60 frames per second. Anyone know if H2 will be 30 or 60

i think the speed of the game has spead up, due to the weapons and new game types, but also the amount of people that will get good and play on live.

I just hope it’s not like Unreal Tournament. That game was too fast to enjoy (for me anyway).

i think.. he was talking about fps rate.. so what he really meant to say was lag or no lag..

but yea bungie did a good job at toneing down the special effects for multiplayer just enough so that it gets hella good fps and it still looks great

This is what I was thiknking about!

If you have so many counter attacks for each vehicle and amazing ranges for close, medium and long range weapons then there will be a counter for ever type of weapon!

People in taanks will be sniped! People in warthogs will be traked and blown the f\/ck up! People with dual needlers will be meleed with a sword! but will be killed as well from the needles! Sword people will be needled! Needlers will be sniped or sworded!

There is a counter for everyhing and people will be killed instantly within being seen!

Now, I'm glad you asked this because I've been half-apprehensive from watching the MP videos that perhaps H2 has gotten so fast it might be dangerously close to a slop-o-rama. The reason I dread that is because slop in a game is the exact opposite of strategery, and I appreciate a game where skill is prime (dawg, that's mostly why Halo 1 is the best FPS ever). However, in the article written by the winners of the Mountain Dew-sponsored Halo 2 contest, they say that one-on-one duels last quite a bit longer than in Halo 1, which relieves me GREATLY, since that cuts in favor of H2 being an even greater skills-based game. [As if Bungie couldn't be trusted..ha!] Plus, Frankie was talking a few updates back about "layers of strategy", which appeals so specifically to Halo geniuses such as myself that I almost thought he was sending a secret personal message just for me.

60fps right xbox is a pretty powerfull system and all but i dont think they could manage halo 2 at 60 fps bringing a game up to 60 fps a second means you will have to sacrifice the graphics which wouldnt be a good idea if they were to put halo 2 to 60 fps the game would stutter sooo bad it would be unplayable keeping it at 30 fps would be the best because sometimes even halo stutters at 30 fps during really big firefights like on some parts of truth and recconciliation and when riding the warthog really fast on silent cartographer while being attacked.

fps i couln't care less as long as it dosn't lag and it looks cool
but fighting in the game looks like it has definately sped up but people that played said it took a little longer to kill the other person without the pistol it will me just right i think

I believe the speed of a game is linked to the amount of people, size of map, game type and player skill... If you have a newbie playing on a huge map on slayer mode with only one enemy... It would take forever. If you had 16 elite players on a slayer mode on a map the size of prisoner, then it would end almost before it started...

There are two different ideas in this thread.

One is the actual amount of frames that H2 will run. My guess is 60fps. And Halo 1 ran at 50fps.

The other one is the speed of the gameplay, which is only related to the fps(frames) in a small matter. It will be fast, compared to the slow-paced gameplay of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and Ghost Recon. It shoul be akin to Unreal in how fast the gameplay goes.

And the other one above, is thinking about how fast the matches will get over, which is completely independant of the actual game.
