I was just thinking that this leak isn't going to hurt Bungie as much as people first thought. I mean, sure a lot of spoilers have been posted and it will put a dent in their overall sales, but let's be realistic. One of the biggest pieces to Halo 2 is the Xbox live support. And, while I don't know from experience, I am pretty sure the game doesn't work via Xbox live yet. So why doesn't bungie just slip in some sort of CD Key type system into each retail package, and you must have the CD Key in order to get the game to work online. This way, all those illegal copies are worthless when it comes to online play!

I bet they have already done that, but if they haven't, that's my suggestion :). Those bungie guys are just so damn smart, they HAD to have already thunk that one up :D

Actually Xbox Live already does that, it checks the serial of the game and makes sure it is not illegal or stolen, etc. That is why people with modded Xbox's cannot play downloaded games via Xbox Live. So there is no need to worry about anyone who has downloaded Halo 2 playing on Xbox Live, because if they did, Microsoft finds the serial of your Xbox and bans it permanantly from using Xbox Live (This has happend to a few people i know).

So no need to worry, those who have downloaded will still have to buy the game to play it on Live, just like the rest of us.

3 things...
#1. You need a mod chip to play the leaked halo 2 or any other burned copy of a game.
#2. You can't get on xbox live with a mod chip or you will be banned..
#3. Most mod chips (like mine) have a disable switch (turns off the chip) and with the chip off, you can't play any burned copies of games.

Only like 10% of xbox owners have mod chips and out of that 10% only mabey 3% have the halo 2 leak.

If you have the halo 2 leak there is no way to play xbox live with it.

End Of Story.
