I was in a thread over on the Halo 3 forum, and someone posted a link about Halo being over-rated. Anyway, I did a bit of reading and found something at web.archive.org. The old Bungie.net. It's right here. Amazing how much things have changed, isn't it?

And here's the old Bungie.com. Bungie's website has come a long way.

Heh, that's not even the first version of B.net. Still I did rather like that design. The active-o-meter was awesome.

Hehe, that was an interesting feature, wasn't it? :P

I like the current Bungie.net. All I see needing to be made different (and this is exactly why I'm not in Achronos' position..) is adding additional features to the site. :D

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

What is the active-o-meter?

Ah, look at the lonely people...

I've always wondered what Achronos's problem with using the entire screen is. :/

But, I'm not a webmaster yet, so, yeah, I better watch myself, 'else he'll probably come in here and cut me down to size. :P

What is the active-o-meter?

It was a feature in the old chapters. Essentially it showed how active a chapter was in a particular field; news, articles, membership and that sort of thing. Each field was comprised of a number of bar slots which started off black, but gained colour with activity. The colour cycled from red to yellow ending in green. I remain somewhat proud that my 9-person chapter the Mongul Knights of Afar managed to legitimately get every field to the maximum point except membership. Legimately...

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

If that's the case...bring back the active-o-meter........actually put it in our profiles...that's a swell idea don't you think?

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

What happened to the old, OLD bungie (the one where the updates were fetched by ling ling?)

Hey you saw my sig! :)
Their was a time when this was under a post. Simpler times; no Halo 3 Forum and no search. Simpler times. Happy about search though.

Someone tell the Overlord!

Hey, I went to do some more digging, and this is one of the oldest I could find. The pictures are all just gray squares. This one in particular is significant, because the top news story is that Myth II had gone gold, Friday, December 11th, 1998.

Wish I could have been a part of that.. kind of.. not really. I mean, this site is better. The community back then was so "cool and connected" back then, but its not like we are bad people for not being around then. Most (NOT ALL) people would just say they want it back or wish they could've been there for the sake of buttering the bread that is Bungie.net..

Can't find an entry in the Wayback that has all fields maxed, but I do have a shot of the chapter as it was in late 2002 and late 2003:

2003 top
2002 bottom

Oh and I was wrong about the colours; it must have started off green and then gone into yellow and red, not the other way around.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Hmm... I thought you were joking.

Unfortunately, none of the links were saved, so it looks like it's just the homepage.

Edit: Messed up link. Also, I shouldn't say "none" of the links; I only tried a few. Feel free to try them yourself.
