It seems that Bungie made a bunch of cool improvements to the game, but they may also have taken some of the challenge away from playing it.

1) The boost on the Ghost so you can run away from a battle quicker. In H1 you had to be careful about where you took it because you may not make it out.

2) The new and improved needler. That was a challenging weapon to use. Now it is as fast as the SMG and looks more powerful.

3) The rocket launcher with the tracking capabilities. The fun and skill of using that in at least multiplayer mode in H1 was having the shoot it with leader to hit a moving target.

4) Dual wielding weapons. MC is tough enough. It just seems that he is going to be unstoppable now with two weapons. Will the Covenant be able to use two weapons as well in the campaign mode? It also seems the multiplayer shootouts will be much shorter as well with this feature.

I hope there is the ability in the game to turn on and off these new features.

Vong

How can you say "Did the improvements to H2 lessen the challenge of the game?" It hasn't even come out yet. And I think It will be as good if not better than Halo 1 multiplayer. (sorry about flaming I don't do it very often)

Aye, but let's remember that the A.I. will be alot better this time. The covenant will be having all the new stuff as well.

I would think that the people at Bungie would have already thought of that. Most of the Halo2 new features balance each other out.

The ghost when boosting cant shoot. The needelers were pathetic in h1 and very slow and if used from a distance they would blow up edventully. The rockets were to slow and useless against faraway enemys. Duel weilding makes you unable to use gernades or melee.

A.I. is improved so the covies will flank you, run for reinforcements, and generally be a lot tougher than in Halo 1. I'm sure that there are ways to break a rocker lock, such as driving at the rocket and then turning at the last moment, because bungie wouldn't make the lock unbreakable. Its just like the needler and plasma pistol overcharged, you can break the lock but its hard.

Erls and Weaver - right on! I think you're both right. However, the homing rockets still scare me. But look at it this way:

You're headed back to your base with the other team's flag (in a warthog, of course), then you're slammed by a homing rocket!
But it's okay, the flag continues travelling in the direction you were headed - back to your base.
So when you respawn, you jump in a ghost and boost straight to the flag, and possibly beat the other team to it!
See? It all balances out.

Have faith in Bungie. After all, they did make Halo what it is today (literally). :-)

one rocket wont kill u. they weakened them, so it will only damage your ride.

Well, oddly, not a single person at Fan Fest complained about what you're complaining about... and they've played the game.

And neither did the little old granny they got to playtest the tutorial :)

I'll take their opinion over yours.

1) So what if the ghost has boost, use a target tracking rocket launcher to bring it down. and besides, if you've seen the e3 2004 video it looks to me like those things aren't that tough anyways, so you'll still be trying to get out alive, it will probalby be even harder than halo 1.

2) That's called balance, now it hopefully wont be everyone running around with overpowered pistols.

3) you could still lead the target if you wanted, it only tracks if you paint the target. plus it only tracks a small amount. it doesn't carve like the needles or charged plasma shots.

4) I don't know about campain, but in multiplayrer, i think the balance is pretty well equal if a person with a good accuracy battle rifle that has the ability to throw grenades and do melee attacks is pinned against someone with 2 low accuracy high rate of fire guns with recoil.

The elites jump around and clime on walls and stuff too. Plus there's giogn to be a lot more elites in Halo 2. So, I don't think it'll be that bad.
