"Halo 2 is Vista exclusive because it will take advantage of Vista's gaming capabilities"

2. Hello? Halo 2 launched two years ago on the Xbox. The XBOX. A 2001 console. Halo 2 would work just fine on Windows XP, but again, Microsoft is hoping to squeeze a few more dollars out of the hardcore Halo fans by making Halo 2 Vista exclusive. And judging by the Halo 2 screens we've seen thus far, Vista isn't looking very impressive. (Although, to be fair, those screens could be of a work in progress)

Your semi-right... Microsoft wants us to buy Vista with Halo 2, to squeeze a bit more money out of us, but no, like you said, they don't need Halo 2 to sell Vista...
Now, if you did your research, which apparently, you didn't, you'd know why it is Vista-exclusive. This is why:
Halo 2 Vista will be using Microsoft's new "LIVE" feature, which is like taking Xbox Live, and putting it on the PC, something that they couldn't do with XP.. You'll be able to chat from your PC to others with the Live feature, but not only that, you'll be able to chat with people who have Xbox Live. And soon (not with H2V, unfortunitly) PC players will be able to cross-platform and play against Xbox Live players from their PC.

Now somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Obviously it would work on xp, but they can do better with vista, and also can make them more money from the modders and hard core gamers. It's a smart and good move.

best of all with vista, we dont need to support those -blam!- computers some people have, we can push the game more and more.

I don't really think too many people care either way what OS it's made for. Those hardcore Halo fans you mentioned who might buy Vista FOR H2 already have an Xbox and H1/H2 on it. The rest of us, like me, are more excited about Vista than playing a rehash of a 3-year-old Xbox 1 title; mostly because we're computer enthusiasts primarily and Halo fans second.

You're going to get Vista anyways, whether it's as an upgrade or through your new computer. Realistically, by that time, the price should drop on both game and OS, AND they'll have ironed out the kinks that come with every new OS.

EDIT:

Speaking of which, I'm actually seriously considering getting a dualbooting (via BootCamp) MacBook Pro as my next compy.

The few, the proud, the leet.

you guys dont seem to realize that it has little to nothing based on getting more money out of Vista. They'd sell the game just as much either way in the long run.

The fact still remains, it's a Vista only title due to Live Anywhere.

He has a point. If my memory serves me correctly, the xbox ran on a modified Windows 2000 kernel. I aggree too how Halo 2 Vista isn't looking too impressive, I can see pixelation in the screenshots, we have yet to see anything single-player and in this CGW magazine I recently got, thier article on thier impressions on H2V started with some words which put me down. "Halo 2? Moon jumping and leaded movement."

Wow, sounds bad to me. Unless Bungie and Microsoft can make some changes to what we've seen, and can produce what we want to see, Halo 2 Vista may possibly be as flawed as Halo PC.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

It looked awefully pretty in the video I saw of it today in the CES keynote. :)

You know what I am blind but my blind eyes see none the less...You see Vista is the new OS, No matter what you or anyone else says. Eventually all new programs will REQUIRE Vista to run, Halo 2 just so happens to be the launch title. If it were any other program would you act the same? Probably...IMO I think people are just looking for an excuse to -blam!- about money, money, money! IT'S A BUISNESS, NOT A CHARITY. Once again I will ask...If it were another game launching instead of Halo 2 would you act the same? Would you make the same arguement? Can you say you would have no problem? Answer me that.

TBH I think this paragraph just spelled it all, because that is the bottom line.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

It's a smart and good move.

Smart? Yes. Good? Only for Bungie and Microsoft. It's gouging. We all know Halo 2 would run on XP. We're being forced to buy an OS we don't need. It's a ruse. They should be ashamed. But they don't feel shame.

Eventually all new programs will REQUIRE Vista to run

BS. Half-Life 2, BloodRayne 2, Halo PC, Doom 3, Quake 4... et cetera, all run fine on Windows 98. We don't need a new OS to play a new game.

To be honest, by making H2V a Vista exclusive, Bungie are asking to have it cracked within 5 minutes.

Unless someone is so skilled to be able to re-port a game for an operationg system is wasn't coded for has the time and inclination to do it. (Which I doubt since he'd probably have a pretty good job)

Dude, I think people would care about the operating system itself rather than a two-year-old console port. Besides, there are many other games I'm looking forward to, like Crysis. Get Vista for the sake of getting a new operating system which is way better than what you currently have, not to play a game.

No. Is it going to be on XP? No. Money is a secondary or tertiary factor in this decision. You don't need anything except food and water, node. He did say all new programs.

nobody is forcing you to do anything...it's IF you want to play Halo 2 VISTA you will need a OS called VISTA...
Vista is known to have features that are better than XP, if they were releasing it to Windows 95, THEN we could have something to complain about. oh sure the money spent might be quite a little, but it's a good investment in a good OS.

Notice:the guy said eventually not "all games from 2007 will need Vista"
