Ok here’s the thing, I’ve been playing halo on x-box at my girl friends and halo pc at my house and I realized in halo on x-box the cross hair would follow the enemy when they moved making a direct shot a piece of cake but on halo pc (my computer) it wont follow the enemy. Is this because I’m using a mouse or dose halo pc just not do that lock on thing?

It's called auto-aim, the xbox version has it to help 'new players' think they're good at it. The PC version doesn't have it because Bungie quite rightfully decided that it's lame. People with skill don't need auto-aim. Therefore people who master the PC version are more skillful than those who master the xbox version.

Because the X-box controler's joystick does not offer as much accuracy as a mouse, Bungie added that feature so you would actually be able to hit something!

no he is taling about Halo PC aswell.

If you connect an adaptor to your xbox it will auto-aim. its an options in the xbox version, nothing to do with mouse/keyboard.

Heyyo,

Err... wrong dude, I plugged inna gamepad on HaloPC, and still no autoaim, it's been entirely removed. And all FPS for consoles have autoaim, some games like N64's Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark, and Xbox's Battlefront at least had options to turn it off, on Halo for xbox it's permanently on... And btw, if you bought the right adapters, and plugged your keyboard/mouse combo into an xbox, you'd get autoaim on those suckers too, lol, making it very unfair as you get the accuracy of a mouse PLUS autoaim, which on PC is cheating, but hey, it's just a console .;)

So the autoaim is hardcoded into the games, NOT the gamepads. And yes, your gf will probably hate HaloPC cause of how much harder she'll have to work for her kills. :P

OH! I almost forgot, there's no built-in force feedback either, lame eh? BUT, no worries, I know a little proggy that emulates force feedback by sounds generated by your soundcard: Immersion's Touchsence Gaming. =D

On the left there, you'll probably want the "free Trial" it's 30 days, and I say this little proggie's worth the $30 cause it does it no matter what sounds are generated by your soundcard, so if you put it beside you or on your lap it's like cheap emulation of rumble caused by good subwoofers. :)

The auto aim is in because it is harder to aim accurately with a joypad. I dont actually notice it at all, because i am used to it, though just because someone is used to the joypad doesnt mean theyll be -blam!- without auto aim as with a mouse it is easier to aim (i know, i have a pc, not halo pc, but i play pc games). I can easily manage both, but without auto aim on halo it would probably be much harder, and so unless you improved quicly, less fun.

I really dont get how a joystick is harder, i can aim so much better on xbox than i can with a mouse, and i am a hardcore gamer for both systems and im not just talking about halo. counter-strike doesnt have auto aim, and neither does medal of honor, and i can snipe so much better in moh than in cs

Its precision that is harder on the joystick. Thats why the cross hairs are so big, because it was designed for a console, where presicion is harder. If they turned off auto aim you would notice (i found medal of honour on x box quite hard without it). It is just done so well in halo that you rarely notice, unless your looking for it, or your not used to it.
