Reading books is lame especially ones that arent evn true.

Does anyone know if ATI graphics cards are known to cause problems with Halo 1? I'll be playing Halo, and it's running perfectly, and suddenly my screen just goes black. My computer won't respond to anything. It's like it's off, but the power is still on. I've had this problem in the past, and I never solved it, but it's not usually as bad as it is right now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if this bug can be fixed (see screenshots below)?
There are "strings" coming from every player and some world objects (trees, rocks, etc). Also some parts of other objects are missing like wheels on the warthogs. This occurs continually from start of each game.

I have version 1.07 of HALO (Normal Edition) and HALO (Custom Edition) and bug occurs in both. I have tried various in-game settings but bug still occurs.
It's very annoying...

My system has an Intel 650 CPU on D925XCV mobo with 1GB ram, and nVidia 6600 GT (rev2) with 128mb (from XFX). I also have a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard and I'm running Windows XP 64-bit SP1.

I have all updates from Windows Update and am using DirectX 9.0c (December 2006). I'm currently using nVidia drivers 97.44 (still occurs with older versions) and all other games work fine (older and newer than HALO).

Any help appreciated.

I'll post stuff here anyway until it splits.

Woah looks like a modeling error. Looks like when I first started modeling and screwed up vertices. Have you reinstalled halo and tried?

It's a fresh install...I mean complete system...I wanted to try out HALO again after all these years but on my newer system...I used to play it on my Intel VC820 with 1ghz CPU and 512mb ram, and nVidia Ti4600 and it works just fine...

I'm there but, man this is really starting to sound like communism.
Long live the MAW.

my oooold graphics card had a problem that looked similar to that. EXCEPT, no vehicles had any problems, just a few weird lines sticking out of nowhere.

FIXED: it was the video driver - found version 96.89 - works like a charm

Reading books is lame especially ones that arent evn true.

My game will work perfectly for a long time, and then suddenly, without warning, everything goes black. My computer won't respond to ctrl-alt-del or anything. I have to force it to shut down. When I try to launch Halo the next time, this comes up:

EDIT: I should add that I tried 'Safe Mode' and i'm not sure if it worked or not. I closed it and resarted the game in normal mode because safe mode only allowed me to use really crappy graphics settings.

That message just means the game closed unexpectedly, as in when you manually shut down.

Well that's because I did manually shut down then. I just don't undersand this. It runs perfectly most of the time. Hasn't anyone had a similar problem?
