How many forums say: Halo 3 Weapon Ideas!!!, Halo 3 Vehicle Ideas!!!, Halo 3 Map Ideas!!! Halo 3 Blah Blah, Will there be a Halo 4?!, Blah Blah Blah.

My Question is: Who's tired of overused forums with 90000 posts?

Strangely enough I'm more excited to see what bungie will created after Halo 3 then Halo 3 itself! We can only hope it will be even better.

Sorry off topic, Please post yes if you are tired of over used topics... Thanks!

I gotta say, it getts tiring going through these forums seeing the same thread over an over, if peope actually looked through the forums im sure they would find older threads that they could add on t, instead of making their own, hoping it will become a hot topic.

Ahh, too many options!

It doesn't really bother me, but I agree with rombo man.

It is very annoying to go to the Halo 3 forum and see nine threads on the first page titled "HUMANS R FORERUNNERS!". When I create a thread, I try to make it unique, something that's never, if not rarely made.

In fact, most people just come here, and on their first day post a bunch of threads in the Halo forums about how much they love Halo, how they got cheated, how good they think they are, et cetera, and it's annoying. When I first joined, I did that to a degree, but I didn't make "I LOVE HALO!" threads, or "BAN THIS CHEATER!" threads, I made threads about comparing things from game to game, which weapon was more powerful, which aspect was stronger, and things of that sort.

It seems as though new members don't even read the rules anymore. They just join and post. They don't read the terms of joining, the code of conduct, or any of the stickies. Either they're just lazy, they think the rules don't apply to them, or maybe they just figure Bungie's rules are identical to those in other sites they've been on.

In either case, whenever people join, they should read the code of conduct as well as all of the stickies. Check out every single forum, go through a few pages, look at the recent threads, and get a feel for the place before diving in. I did, so they should.

It's a shame the Search Feature isn't being utilized to it's potential.

But you have to understand that your average 14 year old who makes an account just to talk about Halo 3 isn't going to use the Search Feature to look up existing "X button" threads, nor is he going to read the Stickies.

The only way to make it stop is to force people to use these tools. Like Recon's idea of the "New Topic" button linking right to the Search Feature before making a new thread. I don't know how to make the Stickies worth checking out, even if we made them more "noticeable" (ala changing their text color or something.)

Great Ideas, I especially like the new topic link to search thing. Of corse I'm a complete hypocrit by posting this forum and spaming up the forums even more then they were.

Oh yes and sorry about the poll organization, I was looking at the option list vertically not horizontally. Please read all of the options...

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Over used topics?

Or over posted.

I love the once a week Forum cop threads.

You want to know what it'd be like to have no moderators on this site? Try this easy to prepare simulation.
Step 1: Procure yourself an intact box, something a fridge or similarly large appliance.
Step 2: Fill cardboard box halfway with feral cats. One or two should be rabid.
Step 3: Climb inside the box, closing the top behind you.
Step 4: Begin screaming and thrashing wildly at the cats.

Well, even with a search feature all these problems don't disappear. The search feature can point you to a thread, but if that thread has 40 pages of posts. Its impossible to read and understand all of that and is easier to create a thread of your own. That is a pitfall of internet forums and something we have to live with. There will be repeats and it is better to just ignore them.

Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

Maybe there should be a trial period where a new member must go through a tutorial of sorts to learn about the different forums/ features of Bnet.

That actually sounds pretty neat. I am just unsure of how it would work and whether that would be very efficient for the site.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Yea, or they have to watch a video or something. That'd be funny.

I don't know how to make the Stickies worth checking out

pr0n works every time. There doesnt have to be any actual images or anything, but I'm sure the promise of some would make the stickies (hehe) get more attention.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Some threads may be repeated because the original is out of date or some other legitimate reason like that. However, if people started to actually use the search feature more, i'm pretty sure we'd see a decrease in this repetition. I have no idea how much the search is actually used, but i'm willing to bet it's not as much as some may like to think.

If you were to stick around this site for any extended amount of time though, you'd quickly realise that repeat threads are bound to occur. Whilst the search might limit this, i doubt it'll ever completely stop it.

Thanks for telling me I wasn't an average child ;)

I don't know About the search feature thing, but I do agree that people need more prodding to use the tools given to them.

@trueunderdog

Chapter

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

I'm tired of people not using the search feature when the threads they created had the same topic created no longer than the day before. Then, their threads stray off topic but they outlive the on-topic predecessor simply because the topic creator is an egotistical "well known member" of the forums.
