RIP Halo 2.

Somehting I've been thinking about - macro programming is available to just about everyone on PC games. As most of you know, there's things like BXR, BXB, and RRX in Halo 2. What's stopping people from programming the exact timings for a perfect quadshot into their mouse? What fun is the game going to be when peeople without skill are running around doing perfect insta-kills on you wiht the BR?

Does Bungie have a plan regarding this? The whole "report cheaters" thing is not going to work here, because there's really no way to prove macro or even button combo usage.

RIP Halo 2.

Because of the difficulty involved in pulling them off. I don't mind them there either, because it's a skill based thing.

In the macro-laden PC world, any n00b can download a script for a macro program and have a button on teh side of their mouse do a perfect quadshot insta-kill with the BR. Or a teh fastest possible BXB every time. Or the fastest possible BXR, etc.

And who said that those glitches would be returning?

No one, but remember it's a port. Bungie will likely fix some of the big gliches, but the smaller ones will go unknowticed, and new ones will emerge.

I think Bungie stated that fixing button combos would make more problems, so they weren't attempting it.

Um, you're joking, right? Button glitches take skill? I mean, aside from more complicated ones such as the double shot, I don't see how a BXR is extremely hard to pull off. But I agree with you -- I don't mind button glitches myself, but I do see them as a problem on H2 Vista. Pulling off a BXR or an RRX would be extremely easy to execute on a mouse and keyboard. Hopefully Bungie will fix this in the port to PC. Hopefully.

And by the way, who is "Bengie"? :)

Ugh, I was talking to a friend and he was yelling at his dog, I suppose my subconscious slipped it in there, because the u and e are too far for it to be a typo.

I consider button combos a skill, there's a certain risk to them, you screw up and you're probably dead. And double-shotting well is not an easy thing to do.

I agree, Wells, I do think that pulling off button glitches is an admirable skill. Just not as admirable as it is on the original Halo though. :)

Well you could macro certain xbox controllers, as I did for the sword lunge when I still did campaign glitching.

it is a very admirable skill to double shot, and if everyone can bxr, then "out bxring" someone is like "out-BRing"

Also, since Bungie is so adamant AGAINST button glitches, im pretty sure they will be taken out for h2v

Well, button combos haven't ruined Halo 2 Xbox. (Not that there was much to ruin in the first place, though.)

You are right, the button glitches didnt ruin halo 2, bungie did. ZING

What it is.

if i'm not mistaken, they've stated that there wouldnt be any exploits like BXR or BXB, i'm sure RRX is included as an exploit...

is the duck that mc pulls off in halo 1 a bit faster than halo 2?

if so when you hit duck to avoid a possible BXR and all that, you move so slow that the other guy has to do is just aim up and down your body.

maybe if MC's movement had some speed in it (don't think that will work) then it might be ok

all my friends say bxr speeds up gameplay, but I try to fight realistic.

anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

err.. well known glitches that could be potentially game breaking for the format dont tend to make into the final code. but yes, macros could be made if such a thing were to ever happen. [which it wont].

RIP Halo 2.

Does anyone have a direct quote to Bungie saying they'd fix this as someone else mentioned?

Regarding the Xbox version, the only quote I heard was that it would not be fixed because it would create more problems. The Xbox and Vista are not THAT different that Vista would magically not have the same problems.

I don't think there's a direct quote... the closest thing is..

How does Halo 2 for Windows Vista cope with cheating, aimbots, and so on?

Cheating is a big concern for us, especially in online play, just as it is for any online game regardless of platform. Windows Vista and Live include several features intended to prevent cheating in online games, and players who need an extra degree of certainty can control their own community using Dedicated Servers or Live Friends lists. Even so, there will always be those who work around these measures and make it impossible to eliminate cheating completely. We’re doing all we can to make sure that online play is fun for the majority of honest H2V players.

so pretty much vague info... the not being fixed on Halo2Xbox was probably because Bungie's focusing on Halo3 as told by MS, and they aren't going to outsource an already couple years old xbox game to another company cause it's not cost efficient.

My guess though, is the button combos won't be in H2V since in order for H2 to be on windows they have to rebuild the engine like gearbox did. So unless the company who's working with Bungie (Hitman studios was it?) is creating it so the button combos will stay, they probably won't make an appearance.
