I would dobut you will miss the power of the gtx in halo 2 vista, unless the port job is similar to halo pc of course.

so not worht it im guessing?and what do u mean about the port?

The port won't be adding any extra graphics features to the game (as far as I know). It will only boost the quality of the resources, namely textures (higher resolution, etc.). Any added benefit from a better card would probably only be apparent in frame rate.

Just a reminder, the GPU in the Xbox is pretty old tech. You won't need a bleeding edge card to fully enjoy Halo 2 Vista's graphics upgrade (as far as I know... just making a prediction... depends on how high you want to set the settings).

And if you want a new card just to play Halo 2 Vista, just wait until the game comes out before you get a new card, because there will be way better cards out by then. But if you have games to play on you list, go for it. :)

Now, you should also see if ATi/AMD do release one badass DX10 card.. by the looks of it so far, might not work out well... but I'm not gonna jump the gun, and I'm gonna wait and see what happens later.

I'd say 8800GTX if cash ain't a big deal, otherwise the 8800GTS is plenty amazing, and will still run amazing in H2V, and Crysis.

But after buying an 8800 series vidcard, you should be concerned on Vista drivers for the 8800 series... as right now? they are non-exsistent... indeed, first DX10 card ain't fully software compatible with vista. Sad.. I'm sure though they'll be out within the month since vista is about to go retail and all.

Pardon my ignorance, does anybody here expect when nVidia's going to release the next series of cards? I mean, if the 8800 is still the hottest thing around the time Crysis comes, then I'll get that right now, but if it isn't, I'd like to wait for the very best GPU come Windows Vista.

What exactly do you mean by "next series" of cards? Do you mean like the G90 (9800GTX?) or just a refresh of the current generation (8900GTX)... If you mean the G90, I'd expect that around November or December... as for an 8900GTX, probably around June.
According to several sources, ATI's R600 is going to dominate the 8800GTX, and that will probably carry over with ATI's refresh. As from what' I've heard, ATI's architecture is much better than Nvidia's.

Oh, hell no, the GeForce 9 series isn't going to come out for a long time. I'm referring to the next line of cards that are coming out.

The GTS should be plenty more than fine.

Either way, the GTS nor GTX will perform well if you dont have enough power pushing it.

Sure, if you want players to turn yellow when you shoot them. If you want Halo 2 to look like Starfox, be my guest.

Heh, Starfox. Fun game.
Yea the gma 900 does have some issues with T&L. But its good for a $500 laptop.

aka lino4

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

GMA 900 doesn't even have T&L.

The 6800 Ultra is not a bad card, it can run Oblivion on decent settings with a decent framerate. I'm thinking the GeForce 7 series will be the flagship for this one. The Radeon X1000 series is too slow and shader dependent.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

The X1000 series is far from slow.
