I just recently bought halo for pc and it works fine. However i recently downloaded the CE pack and it won't open for me. The original Halo works fine but everytime I enter CE a window appears asking for "Exception data". What do I need to do for this to end?

Corrupted map files are usually the cause...try downloading the maps once more, if that doesn't help, try downloading CE again.

The few, the proud, the leet.

Exceptions are the lack of a requested file. Be sure you have a ui.map in your maps folder.

Zeph will want to castrate me for saying this, but Halo PC/CE is a crappy port.[
Actually I have found that both of the HaloPC/CE games are very stable in operation. When "exceptions" are thrown they are normally due to

1) Spyware, malware or Adware running on peoples PC's or interaction with other programs like Xfire and such

2) Hardware problems like bad video or main memory and

3) in Halo CE's case improperly designed map files.

If the game exceptions on start up first read the error message it will normally tell you which map may be the cause or is missing.

Re-boot to clear memory and turn off all other programs including any instant messenger, MSN,AIM,XFIRE, your MP3 player andything and everything not required to run the operating system. Scan you your PC for virus infection and Adware/Spyware: remove as required. They start the game.

Zeph will want to castrate me for saying this, but Halo PC/CE is a crappy port. If it happens constantly, redownload CE and all your maps and hope that, by chance, it goes away.

Yeah, it's definately the internet, so I'm gonna castrate you. I completely fail to see how it's a poor, or even crappy, port. One, it was contract work issued, critiqued, reworked, and approved by Bungie through Microsoft according to their specifications. Two, rasterizer code has been amended to properly work with hardware above AND BELOW the original Xbox specifications. Dont be pissed off at the game if it looks terrible, be pissed at your computer for not having the recommended hardware. Three, the port is incredibly open ended. Have you ever run the game at 4000x3000? 40,000x30,000? 120x80? It's possible thanks to a considerate porter. Four, the game is as secure as the server it's running on. Unlike a console, or other client sided game, a person can't have super speed or one hit needle kills unless everyone does. *Note, the aimbot doesn't count towards this, as it is not a true talking-to-server cheat.*

I'd go on, but I've gotta get going.

Try redownloading it and reinstalling it. You might have a corrupted ui.map, sounds.map or bitmaps.map file.

I downloaded CE from http://www.halomaps.org/ again. The same thing is happening. At first it doesn't detect the drivers (or something) so I copy the 1.07 update. This helps windows detect CE but it asks for "Exceptionary files" again. Should I download it from somewhere else? Has anyone downloaded it from there and had the same problem? Where should I go to download it and custom maps?

Edit: I removed it and got it from a different source. This time it didn't need the patch but it still is asking for Exceptional data. I don't thinks maps are the issue.

It usually happens when the computer just goes mad and can't keep up with what's happening. So if you're in a game with dev, on a VERY big and detailed map and you start endlessly throwning plasma grenades, then don't be surprised if you get an exception error.

The better your computer, the less chance of getting an exception.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

It's happening when he opens CE, not when he is in a game.

Sounds to me dude like you have a hardware issue or your operating system is buggy on the install and not unpacking it right.
