I've just recently been writing to one of the private forums on Bungie.net, and was wondering how easy it would be to control who can view your forum post.

Would it be possible to add viewing restrictions to threads, in a similar way to when posting news in groups? (For example, I might want only Full Control members to be able to see and participate in a certain discussion.)

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Private Forums?

Hmmmm...

ah, I do believe you can, actually.

I may be wrong, but there might be a choice when posting...

You're thinking of posting news articles. I think what he is referring to is the ability to choose who can view a thread.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Funny, it used to be like that in the old forums. The mods of a group could have a ton of topics going but the other members or non-members could never see it.

Also in the old forums you could make so that *anyone* even non-members could see posts in your forums if set it to *Everyone*.

This way people could see some topics in groups without having to join. I don't know how hard that would be to implement under the new code.

My friend, you would not tell with ſuch high zeſt

The old Lie: Dulce et decorum eſt
Pro patria mori.

Yeah, we did lose a bit of customisation in chapters with the New Hotness. Shame really, but then the site went from a few thousand to over a million users in a short space of time, and as we were told compromises became necessary. Still it's funny that the most annoying thing I've seen happen was the rebranding of chapters as "groups". Not as cool really.

"We did what we had to do!"

"Members should not be afraid of their Overlord, their Overlord should be afraid of the members!"

B for Bungietta.

Man I miss the chapters... I still call them that. Speaking of which, "Are chapter isn't very active, look at those red bars!". Remember that?

We lost the cool threaded view of the threads. And the good ol' "who's online" feature. Oh well, gotta roll with the times.
