Naw, The Maw holds it's own. It's the "safest" forum, as well.

If you want my opinion, The Library should be removed. It sees the least amount of posts, I believe.

You're saying the maw should be removed, no discussion, even after a large amount of these responses say no, along with several mods? I think the flamethrower would be a good choice. Fuel Rod Gun is to instantanious.

The Maw is largely inactive compared to the rest of the forums and should be removed. Face it, no one cares about the PC versions of Halo and Halo 2. Discuss.

Not so much inactive as invitingly easy-going.

Let me fill you in on a wee bit of our beloved Bungie's history.

Bungie began making games for the Mac, starting with Gnop (1990?), a Pong varient, which would end up to become the engine for the Halo we know and love.

Fast forward to Steve Job's 1999 Macworld Expo keynote address in New York. Halo is announced, originally for Mac and PC release. Microsoft steps in, does some things, and Halo is switched to sell the Xbox.

Long story short: no Bungie-PC/Mac roots, no console Halo.

The Maw stays.

And no, the Maw should not be taken out.

It may be filled with misguided wierdos who still play a way-old crappy ugly slow PC game on PCs a neanderthal could design, but its still used by a number of regulars.

So no.

My computer can't run it. :(

Actually, on second thought. The Maw should go.

Well, no. I think several people need to be banned is a better remedy. The place HARDLY gets moderated, and while everyone there is civil, the place is full of elitism and it's annoying. I'm not going to name names, but stuff needs to be done.

Actually, I'd have to partially agree... If you haven't been around the Maw when it started, getting accepted as a productive person there is hard. I tried to make contact with them, but it all comes down to "who's better at teh 3sk!?" and uh, of course, there's a few members there who are 'the best', so obviously everyone else doesn't know how to play. ;)

Kind of obnoxious, but I just don't visit there anymore.. That solves that problem.

Once Halo 2 Vista comes out it will be filled with activity.

what is considered active? 200 posts a day?

The Maw is active, computer problems don't happen every day, and what's awesome is that once one person gets helped out, the whole community knows what to do if someone else has that similar problem

The Maw is the best forum, hands down. We all get competitive, trash talk (in a funny way), help each other out, and take anger out on the game (or in my case, my keyboard).

Just because we don't post about hot chics and stuff doesn't mean that we're not active. Halo 2 Vista is just going to have more threads, the Maw will still be active, just more threads, possibly duplicates which will drive us people of the Maw nuts and the moderators nuts as well. The Maw is very civilized, and it's a great place to get help from for computers too.

It is my honest opinion that the Maw forum is the absolute best forum and a model for every other forum on this site. The Maw may seem largely inactive because you do not understand it or because we do not hear constant news about Halo 2 visita. But that doesn't mean the community isn't adamant about helping each other, setting up tournaments and sharing other relative news with each other. Personally everyone should take some cues from the members in the Maw for their sheer resourcefulness and maturity.

And that's what makes it great is the communication, helping, maturity, etc.

If the Maw was a state, I would live in it forever.

Correction: You don't care about Halo PC or Halo 2 for Vista.

Fortunately, your opinion was not requested nor your approval. The Maw stays. It should be a good place to keep track of various community efforts to make their own content.

I sympathize with the original poster. The Maw is not what it once was. I used to post in there often with my old account, but now the elitism has gotten worse than it was back then. I say get rid of it; the Halo PC games just aren't as popular as the console versions, and I don't think they warrant having an entire forum dedicated to them. I would rather a better, more useful forum be created, or Bungie could just save some bandwidth and not replace it. Either way, the forum should just be deleted and Bungie.net should move on. The Halo PC players would just have to live with it.

You mean delete the Maw for another Halo 3 forum? Why not delete the Underground too? It doesn't have much activity and most of the threads get deleted anyway.

I wouldn't be against deleting the Underground either. The general Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 discussion forums, the Septagon, and the Flood are the only forums that should probably stay. Bungie doesn't listen to suggestions of playlists, so Optimatch is useless. The Gallery is dead, the News is somewhat useful, the Voting Booth is kinda pointless now at least until Halo 3 comes out, the Classifieds could stay too I suppose otherwise groups would become pointless. But I agree with you, the Underground is kinda useless now, especially since the Halo Movie has been cancelled apparently.
