To be critical, I've read a lot of people claiming that they've done something to promote the use of grammar - however, it was probably more insignificant then you realize. When I was in my ub3r b1tch mode (when I was a woman) I made a very big deal about grammar... those who didn't use it (or didn't TRY to use it) got a slew of trash from me.
From my own perspective, I did the most to promote a grammar-based community. However, I am probably wrong. It's very likely that there was another before me who also made it clear in a very rude way that grammar is vital. Whereas I come in, ignorant, thinking that I am the first, and that this passable forum was somehow better largely because of my efforts (hypothetically of course; I have always realized this).
And to those of you who came in after I switched personalities, you had no idea of the efforts I made.
Might your efforts have had an effect? Yes, of course. Did it have much? Probably not. In other words, don't take credit for it.
