I, supprizingly, only noticed this recently. Whith all other weapons, you can see or at least contemplate how they reload. All human weapons and some covenant have clips that fall out and are replaced. Other cove weapons have batteries. But what does the needler have and how is it reloded. I cnow it has needles. But haw does chief put new ones in? It has alwais looked like he just shakes it! In fact, the only place we have ever seen a needler clip by itself notin the gun is in halo 1 in 1 room on 1 map! Just noticing...post away!

There are about 20 clips on the level 343 GS, in one of the rooms with the energy bridge above it.

The clip loader is on the bottom of the Needler. That's why Chief jerks it up when he reloads.

  • 01.15.2007 8:08 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

The Needler is loaded with a large pink crystal, which is somehow shattered into the needles the gun fires. You can find the crystals in 343 Guilty Spark, as you head through the underground facility towards your encounter with the Flood.

Maybe when the Chief jerks it, he's breaking the crystal.

It's magic. How do you shoot bad-guy-seeking crystals at bad guys even though it's calibrated to kill the good guys?

Magic.

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

I always imagined you slotted the crystal into the grey thing that looks almost like a port on bottom wing of the gun, and then the weapon somehow processed it. As for guidance, my best educated guess would be magnetic fields of some sort, similair to the plasma weapons.

If theres something at the bottom, how come when u look at the gun, you dont see any hole???? I think it reloads through the back of the gun, which is why it jerks.

I think the needles are alive! They relode themselves and they can fly! They sense which enimy you are against and go for him. They fuse together for storage perposes! They glow like lightening bugs and are pink because, well, I don't know why they are pink. Ga... ,I mean ~blam~, liveing needle crystals?

Uh...in bottom of the top "wing" there must be a space there, because I noticed it glows down in there.

The purple substance which the needles are made out of are actually quite malleable, with the consistency of play-dough, but the resistance of titanium. Imagine that the needler itself is a living organism. Master Chief loads the purple substance into the needler through an orifice, and when he needs to reload, he simply strokes it to the point where the stimulated creature pressures the needles through the tiny orifices located at the top of the weapon. That pressure transforms the needles into a hard, solid substance, which at that point is ready for shooting.

Actually, disregard everything I just said. I'm probably on drugs.

I suppose the needler, shall we say, 'dices' the needle 'potatoe' into needle 'french fries' that are then 'fried.'

'Scuse the food analogies. :P

I am a magician. When people say 'Magnetic flux fields' they are actually spraffing; deep down they really mean magic.

Yeah, I had a look and there isn't a hole on the Halo 1 needler, but there is on the Halo 2 one. However, I'm not sure that what I said is correct, as i got confused when I looked at the Halo 1 needler, as there aren't any holes I could see.... I still think its that small bit on the end of the lower wing, as that's where the 'hole' is in the Halo 2 needler.

Also what i_will_pwn_u said, the back isn't visible when he reloads, so it may well be there. But one thing confuses me... How can he reload both at the same speed when dual weilding?! My theory for THAT is that the ammunition crystals are infact stored inside the weapon.

Hmmm, I think it would be much cooler to see him insert the crystals and the gun kinda jerks around by itself when it reloads. That would rawk.

Um, HaloFighter62, have you noticed that walmost everything the cove make seems to glow!
Been goin back to the books for data on needlers and I thought, maybe, the needles are controled by electro magnetic fields like the cove plasma. But I still like my other theory that they are alive because it explaines much more.

There's the classic flipping over a tank with your bare hands phenomenon too.

Agreed!!!!!!!!! And chief is chief!!! If he wants to flip over a tank without moving any part of his body, let him! Chuck Norris invented all colers of visible light. Exept pink and perple. Covenant invented perple and Tom Crues invented pink.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

As I remember, a Crystal is ejected into the bottom of the Needler, and the weapon splits them into Needles.
