Subject: Proof of autoaim in halo Pc/Ce

Yes, there is autoaim in halo ce and pc. It doesn't work like it does in xbox, the game automaticly adjusts the projectile to hit a nearby target. I used the CMT SL to show this in the video.

I didn't mod autoaim in, it's like that on ALL weapons. Even classic ones that came with the game.

This thread relates to Halo PC/CE, not Halo 2 Xbox.

I did realize that. in the revelance of Auto Aim, and somebody had mentioned how auto-aim ruined Halo 2 Xbox i thought that it would be worth a Tinker's Cuss to post it.

Is it the same as halo xbox? Because there's a ton of it on xbox.

Thank God no. And with the combination of the crappy netcode we all know and love, Halo PC is significantly harder than on the Xbox version to get 3SKs and headshots.

the autoaim of that gun is clearly more than the autoaim of any weapon in halo xbox or pc, in terms of magnetism.

If you fired the pistol there it would not have hit the grunts.

It might, the differnce between the SL and the pistol, is that the SL is spew discharging tons of projectiles. Teh vid had I think 5 degrees of autoaim, while the pistol has 3.

This shows autoaim on the unmodded h1 weapons

Actually that isn't autoaim. Autoaim is like what's in Halo 2, where when you go near a target, you automatically aim to his body, and even when you move, you're still aiming at his body. It's basically like a ghost analogue stick/mouse.

What Halo PC has is "bullet magnetism" where the bullets (or whatever) automatically fly straight to the enemy if you're aiming somewhere near him, like an iron nail being attracted to a magnet if you put it somewhere near it. The reticle doesn't actually autoaim to an enemy, it's the bullets.

Autoaim is a catch-all term for reticule and/or projectile magnetism.

I am pretty sure by now everyone knows about this in halo pc. That mounted gun in that video has too much autoaim (call it bullet magnetism if you want, I call it autoaim), and therefore takes no skil, prefectly accurate with too much auto aim, fires fast and kills quickly. Belongs in halo2 .

You don't need a reticle to have to auto aim.

What you are calling "auto-aim" or "bullet magnetism" in Halo PC is a side-effect of rounding which is present to some degree in virtually all games. The hit boxes are not perfectly smooth around the objects in the game. Everything is made up of triangles in order to simplify computations and speed up performance, and sometimes things just don't quite match up.

Now, Halo1Xbox had autoaim where it would help your reticle stay on the enemy's... Halo2Xbox had bullet magnetisim. Check some of the autoaim vids.. there was a good one for Halo1xbox and Halo2xbox comparison with stuff like the lunging (which has severe autoaim actually).

I wouldn't doupt it if Halo1PC had a bit of bullet magnetisim cause yeah the netcode is quite poor for FPS standards and this would probably be compensation. I just hope Halo2Vista has about the same or less.. especially for the Xbox contollers.

My friend said auto-aim is good because the speed of the game is faster, but I don't care about speed.

I'd just like it to when you get a headshot you have to hit the head, not aim a foot in front (now halo pc has an exception).

You should realy watch the video before you post ;)

You don't have the slightest idea of what you said.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Well I know that the AR has "auto-aim", crosshairs go red, bullets start hitting more accurately.

I think the problem with Halo PC multiplayer is the netcode, the margin of error for allowing a hit to connect is too large.

I've always thought that Halo PC has SOME "bullet magnetism" or auto-aim, because of the number of times I've managed to shoot someone I could not even see, (sniping from the shadows, etc). I just quickly turn in the drirection shots were coming from and fire a "lucky" shot and headshot the guy.

I also find that if I fire while sweeping sideways shots like that tend to hit. I assume it's that there is a bit of "bullet magnetism", and it brings the bullet to the target better if you "sweep" across it.

I would assume all online computer games have a bit of this, they just keep it to a level where it does not scream "auto-aim".

  • 01.18.2007 9:44 AM PDT

unlike in Halo 2, where the most easily experienced player can be taken out by a newb with an smg.

Seriously, in H2 the level of skill needed to go from noob to expert in H2 was severely shortened compared to H1PC. I hope they don't screw up H3 the same way....

There is auto-aim in Halo PC, but when I say auto-aim, I'm mostly referring to the hitboxes rather than the reticule magnetism. Ever shoot somebody in the head with a sniper rifle at 2X zoom when the crosshair is right above their head? There's proof of the somewhat big hitboxes there. Not as serious or as noticeable as it is on the Xbox version, or on Halo 2, but it's there all right.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Autoaim is in almost any shooter, console or PC. It is very low in Halo PC, though. You need at least some. Not so much that anybody can get an automatic headshot, but not to little that someone can't even hit their target more than three times with the assault rifle.
