I was just wondering if Halo 2 will be laggy in every server like Halo is? Seriously, every server that I ping, at the lowest, 68 to when I refresh before joining ALWAYS ends up giving me a ping of over 150 in game. It can't be that I'm joining sucky servers because why would it say 68 ping before I joined? And its not my computer, I just built a whole new system which can run Halo fine. I have a cable modem. I just hope Halo 2 will have an improved online playing system because with all the new stuff, it would suck to lag every 5 seconds and not be able to have fun on an awesome game because of it.

If Ima.idiot = True then

I think I put this post in the wrong thread, but I'm oing to keep it here so I don't take up space with the same post! :D

That's versy strange then, I never get lag unless I join a server with 56k'ers, which is rare nowadays. When I host my own server, I've had people join with between 30 and 200 ping, and none of them complain of lag. There are two points I want to check with you though:

1) Your new PC, what exactly is it's spec? Because it might not be as good as you think it might be... Sorry if that's aptronising but I've had people think that their 3 year old Pc's are still high-spec because they were when they bought them. Give us as much info as possible on that one.

2) Cable doesn't necessarily mean fast internet. There are many different speeds of DSL broadband (Digital Service Line), starting I think from 256k to... well as high as you're willing to pay for, mine's 1.1M which is faster than most, but even so a 512k shouldn't give you Any lag, and a 256k should be minimal lag unless you're joining distant (intl.) or crowded servers. Sharing this over a LAN might decrease it's performance also.

P.S. your signature isn't efficiently coded. You'll not get into bungie that way :P

Sometimes when I go on a server that says it pings 60, it starts off at 100 then goes to 60 after getting in the game then it goes to 100 again then back to 60, etc. This is with 14 people in-game. I've gone in a game that said I would ahve low ping when it only had 5 people in it and it went over 200. I don't think it was a dedicated server, though.

My PC specs:
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.210 GHz
128Mb GeforceFX 5700 Ultra 128-bit at 550Core/1.03Memory
(Not the newest, but all I could offord.)
OCZ Enhanced Latency Series 184 Pin 512MB PC-3200 Platinum Edition RAM (Buying another stick soon.)
WD 7,200RPM 80GB harddrive
Windows XP SP2

My cable is 256k, I think. I do have it connected to my other computer also, but I usually turn the connection off when my dad isn't using that computer.

And that wasn't my signature. I was editing my post and felt like messing around a little by putting a little VB that I remember from back when I was 11, haha.
