I can't wait to play with the assault rifle.
Here's why the design of Halo:CE was so good... when you held a weapon (like the assault rifle) - it FIT with the visual design of the universe. That curved triangle ammo display on the assault rifle fit perfectly with the dominant visual design using angled lines and planes.
For this reason, it was inexplicable to me that Halo 2 would almost abandon this visual approach, which worked so well in Halo:CE. To be sure, Halo 2 is an awsome-looking game, but these are small compositional elements which have a big impact on the experience.
Take another look at the assault rifle .... suddenly Halo 3 looks more Halo:CE.
