Not to sound hypocritical here, but I've downloaded a few games in my time. Usually old, old games that you wouldn't find on store shelves, or even E-bay. Games such as Colonization, Aces Over Europe, the original TIE Fighter and X-Wing games, and the original Dark Forces. I'm sure the developer's don't mind, since they're not making any money off these games anyway, since they're so old. But I'm sure they're still happy that someone would choose to play them even when there are so many newer, better games out there.
Any of the newer, more recent games I've downloaded I've done so only because I got an inexplicable urge to play a game from a genre I'd normally not play, and would only play for a week or two before the urge passed and I never touch them again. It makes more sense to just "borrow" the game for a week, instead of paying $60 for it only to play it for a week and forget about it.
And if I do like a game I download, I'll go and buy it in the store, since it makes more sense to me to have the legitimate game than to have a huge .iso file, and the entire installation of the game on my hard-drive.
So there's my confession, I hope you understand that I only download games as a preview, since I feel that demos are not an accurate representation of the final product. And I hope I don't get banned for this.
