Subject: Ignore list organziation.

I'm an ex-Bungie.net Moderator. Srsly. Good times, good times.. now this place is pretty icky.
I am actively avoiding my ban. You'll see me around.

I have 20+ pages of blocked members.

Your popular. I must agree that it would be quite convenient, although I don't have anybody on my blocklist.

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

That'd be cool, but I don't have any blocked. Btw, it'd be really nice of you if you unblocked me.
And holy crap, that's a lot of people... almost like... wow...

I have 20+ pages of ignored members, and it would be nice if I had a search or if the list was in alphabetical order so I can shift through it all quicker.

Just a suggestion.

If they're blocked, why do you need to search through your list? I thought mods were supposed to "help" people, not block them when the Private Message you "EgGs."

I always find the petty insults coming from banned members to be more satisfying that clicking the "Block Member" button.

And I don't think Moderators should be blocking everyone anyway.

I like to Rollick

I had this sneaky suspicion and guess what I'm on that list toasty.

Isn't that because I told you to stop bothering me about my sig?

Whatever it's alarming that a moderator would have so many people on a ignore list. However, In my case you would probably be the last moderator I would contact because I question your moderating abilities.

I guess the list is unorganized for a reason? To discourage people from having a big ignore list? Because having a big ignore list can mean a lot of things. Mainly bad though.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Yeah... Toast has me on his ignore list even though I never even sent him a PM before. Then time comes for me to ask him something, I find out I'm ignored. I wonder why... /sarcasm

Errr, excuse me?
20 pages?!
I don't think that I've received messages from more then 20 people!
Geez, everyone hates you...what the -blam!- did you do anyway?

  • 01.21.2007 6:32 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Oh, are you finally going to unblock me? Sorry my name starts with G and not A.

It would be a waste of effort, since almost everyone does not have a 20 page block list. That effort should be spent on other, more important things.

I'm certifiable.

Being a Moderator tends to draw... interesting... private messages. However, I find it exceedingly easy to ignore the worst of it even without using the Ignore list: never had more than 3 names on that list at any given time. (I also clean it out frequently; I figure after a month or so they'll have given up. So far it's worked. .. but I could see possible problems with persistent idjits.)

I personally don't have much use for a more complex system, but could see some folks might find it useful.

-- Steve wishes such a system was unnecessary, but alas our species still breeds jerks from time to time.

Blocking that many people is just stupid. Your a moderator, what happens if those people need you in the future?

I doubt anyone except you has that many people blocked. I agree with Ghandi, efforts should be put on something else more productive.

True.

Ach! Was ist los?

I don't use the block function at all; doing so would cut off my best source of laughs.

Just clean out your ignore list frequently. People will give up spamming your inbox eventually, and you can easily re-add them to the list.

EDIT: I just cleared out my ignore list, and it seems that their messages come back, so you'll have to "clear all messages". Blarg.

I can think of better features to implement. Ones that people would use.

*Sgt

We have an ignore member function..?

Like, no, really. Well I doubt I'd ever use it.

Looking for my name Toast???

  • 01.21.2007 7:55 PM PDT

Seems like a waste of time to modify the PM system to help out less than 1% of the B.net members. If a regular member has pages of blocked users, there's probably some serious PM flame fests going on.

Toast, this looks like a job for pencil and paper.
