With all the Halo 3 hype out there i can only stop and think about the future of Halo 1. Myself playing more Halo 2 than ! (this being the easier online mode) I find that most people on Live dont or havent played Halo 1. So when Halo 3 comes out will it bring the XBC count down or will it kill it altogether. I can already tell that Halo 2 will be affected alot but we need to keep Halo 1 alive. I mean come-on it was the start of something great and we need to agnowlage it. So lets all remember the start of it all when we find ourselfs waiting in line to get our copy of Halo 3. And maybe when we have finished the fight and have some spare time we can dust of our copy of Halo 1 and have our friends come over and LAN it up like the old days. Let me know how you fellow Halo 1 fans feel about my theory.

Well, no crap. Nobody is going to forget the original, that's why it's called Halo 3. What's the point of this thread again?

By the way, "theory"?

You're 100% right. But l really can't help but to LMFAO when l see how you spelled "acknowledge." Truly, l'm sorry.

Halo: Combat Evolved was a great game - l still play it. (Not even joking. l have LAN parties as often as possible.) Halo 2 was good, but lacked something that Halo: Combat Evolved had. Hopefully Halo 3 can nail it.

I wish my friends would have halo 1 lan parties with me *cry*.

I play halo 2 almost as much as I play halo 1 now though, and I think once halo 3 comes out it will be about 60% halo 3, 35% halo 1, and 5% halo 2. Unless of course, halo 3 lets me down like halo 2 did...

I still play it from time to time just to go back and have some good times.

-Sic transit gloria mundi

Thats the thing with all phenomenas, if someone nails a movie, game, etc. just right, then the next time around they are going to take some stuff out the original fans liked and add some stuff new fans might like. I see that when comparing Halo:CE and Halo 2. In Halo:Ce the campaign was an epic story experience and the nultiplayer was -blam- fun. When Halo 2 came out the campaign seemed shorter to me and the story fealt somewhat distant, it felt too much like an ordinary fps. Instead, the focus shifted towards multiplayer, what many video game players like . Don't get me wrong, Both are spectacular games, but those are the reasons I prefer Halo:CE a bit more than Halo 2.

I agree.most people forget the old school and go for the better graphics and multiplayer when the campaign is rockin the story is just flawless

Two time Mythic member

I hear you. Halo 1 is great. After H3 is said and done I'd like to see them re-release Halo 1 after tuning it up to 360 standards.

We've played system link at my house a couple of times this month and the Halo 1 sessions were better than H2.

i refuse to have LAN parties with halo 2. CE every time. used to have weekly parties some times two-three times a week till about 5 am then everyone splits off to school or work. get out then go to youth. about 10pm about 16-20 of us at the same house till 5am again.

and no we never slept

I know it's unlikely but if it was cleaned up with better texturing etc. compared to new 360 games that is, it would truly be awesome-they could name their price with that one as far as I'm concerned!

Yeah, Halo 1 with Halo 3 graphics would most likely be better than Halo 2 + 3 combined! I hope not though, because I'm counting on 3 being awesome.

Halo 1 is old, most people will loose intrest in it sooner or later. I still play Halo 1 often, since it is so much more fun than Halo 2.

  • 02.19.2007 10:16 PM PDT

Though it will continue to be better than Halo 2, it's future is in jeopardy.

  • 02.20.2007 6:45 AM PDT

Well, I don't play much halo 1 but I do play a lot of halo 2, because of the XBL play. But when H3 comes out it will have better XBL play, I am thinking. So, Halo 2's future is the one in danger for me, because I will always go back to the original sometimes but the second one will be supplanted by the third.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

i don't see the confusion really. older games get phased out, naturally the game that has more "capabilities" will replace the game with less. while i personally think that halo2 was not nearly as good as the first, it is the more common simply because of xbl. does that mean they should make a halo xbl re-release? not by any means, halo should remain untouched and in it's place of glory. we still bust it out at lan parties and i still love playing coop or single player campaign on it.

my only hope is that halo3 returns the same feel the first game had since the halo2 went a different direction. that way we will have out epic game with awesome replayability (halo) and we'll get our xbl content and what not also (halo2).

Dam thats wat uncle Avery Johnson had...he never told me what they were :( lol
I dunno, i think that most people will still play halo, i mean it was the original! oviously depends on how good halo 3 is...the better it is the less chance there is for Halo:CE

i dont see how getting H2 before H1 is possible.

  • 02.20.2007 11:40 AM PDT

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

It's a fun game, and it's great for Lan Parties, but sadly, it will eventually just float on into the relm of yesteryear.

Now you know how all the Myth players felt when Bungie moved onto Halo.
