johnson is good, but not as badass as the australian marine. he is freaking AWESOME. more than once on legendary i would go into a room with a full squad and come out with the aussie, who actually does tend to do his share of killing.

I use them as target practice. Kill one, toss a grenade under him, and try to shoot him as he flies through the air. Works really well near a cliff. I

Some times on the lower difficulties they are rather helpful. Like in the beginning of Silent Cartographer or the middle of Aotcr.

I also like to have them in my warthog when I'm driving. Pickin' up a few marines in my ride and doin' some drivebys make me feel pimp.

...ok, no.

On easy or normal, I kill them and use their ammo, because when I'm in the battle, they haul gernades at me, kill me, and say sorry to the flying carcus, but on heroic or legendary, I save them for actual helpers or flesh shields. :)

I grab snipers (infinite ammo) and one lucky marine that gets to sit on my gunner seat, all the others have fragments of grenade lodged in their lungs.

I keep the snipers alive, and use the others as whatever comes to my mind. Cannon Fooder, roadkill, shields, decoys, or supplies.
