Argh, I hate all the marketing guff that gets thrown around!
First it's, "Oh because Vista is getting DirectX 10", then we find out that it uses 9. Although they could have just put 10 on XP.
The graphics of Halo 2 are subpar compared to recent XP titles, so there's no excuse for "games on XP can't look good!", so enough of that excuse because it's not true in the slightest. All graphical functions used in Halo 2 are looking set to use what XP already has to offer
As for Live Anywhere, there's no reason why it can't be patched into Windows XP or made as a seperate service. IE7, anyone?
Not only that, but it sounds like the only thing used by this 'Live Anywhere' is that it enables matchmaking, and that's...erm....that's it? Nothing interesting like global stats? Ranks? Clans? Leagues? Apparently not.
Think of this, matchmaking on PC is going to be like going into a game of Halo now and picking a non-dedicated server and pitting yourself against a host. Not very fun usually.
Halo 2 is on Vista to try and boost sales, like Halo did for the Xbox, and like Halo 2 did for Xbox Live, and how Halo 3 is going to for the 360 as well as a counter to the Playstation 3 (although they've left it way too late for that, but the PS3 seems to be flopping nicely without help).
That's my opinion anyway.
