Temporary bans are the warning. I think alternate accounts do result in a permaban for one of the person's accounts.

So, I say no.

Ach! Was ist los?

And me.

Permabanning for first infractions, really big ones excepted, is a bad idea.

No. I am one of the people temp-banned for not reading the rules correctly. My first infraction was without warning, just ban. If it was a perma-ban i would have been extremely pissed off. Banned for bumping my topic... nice.

No, that would be just plain stupid to do on here and would make one mistake cost u everything, even if u dont know what your doing

That wouldnt solve anything anyway since its so easy to create another account

You should permaban those people who just repeatredly get banned for small things, though.

If they arent trying to stick to the rules just boot em for good.

Perma-bans are a bad idea for general infractions. I'm a perfectly good example of this, actually...

I was blacklisted for 7 days a while back for horrific flaming. I whole-heartedly agree the mod made the right decision (I don't recall who it was, atm). If I were banned permanently, I wouldn't have reformed and brought such wondrous things such as the Beta sticky!

I've been banned for a week for.. Oh, I forget. I think Toast banned me for "Replying to a Troll". :\ It was quite unexpected.

If that was a perma-ban, for example, that'd be ridiculously stupid.

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

Pezza? Banned?! That gives me hope that one day I might become a moderator!

No. Some offences only warrant a slap across the wrists. Other offences warrant decapatation by ninja. You can't group all offenders into one basket.

In order for a more secure forum, all bans of members should be permanent, no matter what the offense. No more one week bans, and users that are attempting to sign in on alternate accounts are banned without question. This would help free the forum of users who disobey Bungie and the moderators. Everyone will think twice before stepping out of line. This will keep the Bungie.net population in check somewhat, especially with the upcoming release of Halo 3 this year. Then, none shall oppose the rules of the Bungie.net forums and the decrees of the moderators. Bungie should stop acting weak and take absolute control of their forums!

So let's say you posted this in the wrong forum or accidentally left in a link that isn't kosher with the ninjas or rules of B.net. You'd be perfectly OK with being permabanned for such a minor infraction as opposed to a couple day blacklist?

Permabanning everyone for any and all infractions would create more problems than the actual permabanning. Achronos' PM box would explode.

Eh? I have never been blacklisted for violating the rules. I have been blacklisted a couple times, but that was not because of something I did. The only I time I was intentionally blacklisted was after I was a moderator.

I've gotten a 7 week ban once. That's it. Basically, if you permabanned for the first offence, no matter what that offence was, you're gonna get one hell of a reduction in activity here, from both good and bad members.

So if I came onto this website totally wasted, just once, and flamed one person, I should get perma-banned? Normally it'd be a one-week ban and I'd deserve it, but for getting wasted and flaming once I'd get permanetly banned?

Not the best metaphor, but you get it.

Lies. I think Frankie banned Shishka once, didn't he? Or was it the other way around? Somebody banned somebody!

This permabanning includes those folks who come up with silly ideas, right?

Sounds familiar. Either way, perma-bans are about as good of an idea as cryo-freezing a cat...
