To play or not to play....

If Captian Keys initiated the COLE protocol when he evacuated the Pillar of Autumn then what was Guilty Spark reading in the MAW?

The COLE protocol is pretty simple. It is usually initiated in the event of any impending capture, corruption or any other event that means the enemy has access to your systems. The COLE protocol is designed to protoect sensitive information by wiping information clean so the enemy finds nothing of value.

So during the MAW when we see Guilty Spark interacting with the computer terminal on the Pillar of Autumn GS should have found a wiped system with little or no information. But instead GS seems to find a whole array of information. GS is impressed with finding human history and is shocked at the thought of destroying such a valuable resource of knowldge.

Why did GS find anything in the Pilar of Autumn's memory banks?

No, he's got a point. Good question. Some body smart will say something that makes sence. Just stick around long enough.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Well any sensitive info would be wiped, but mundane everyday stuff would be left intact. The thing with 343 GS is that any info on the humans is valuable to him seeing how he has been parted from them for so long.

Also...

What about AI construct/s such as Beowolf (yes I probably spelled it wrong)? Would they still be around or would they be wiped as well? It would seem pretty silly to leave an AI on board for the Covenant to find. They could develope weapon systems or tactics to help in future battles.

I'm pretty sure Cortana was the only A.I. aboard the Pillar of Autumn.

Either that, or it was simply done for gameplay purposes.

343 Guilty Spark also had tabs in Cortana's data arrays.
