Subject: I'm seeing too much Halo in The Flood.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I come to the Flood for off-topic discussion but all I see are Halo topics. As I am typing this there are five Halo topics in the Flood right now. I think the correct forum rule needs to be enforced a little more because people seem to think it's alright to post in the wrong forums and expect credible responses.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Well i see your point. I think some threads do seem to belong in The Flood more, however. For example, "sum up Halo in one word". I don't think anyone would expect that to be put in The Underground or any other Halo-related forum, but it is Halo related.

But the thread you mentioned could just as easily been posted in any of the four already existing Halo forums and be more on topic than it is in the Flood.

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

Since we can't all come to a single decision on which forum is best, wouldn't it be better in that case to delegate it to the Flood as a 'Non-applicable' thread? Sorry Floodians, I'm not saying it's just a dump where we put stuff...

Some Halo topics are in the flood because there isn't another thread that matches with it. If oh there was someone who could make more forum titles other then the 12 that we already have.

In my opinion, no. I'm not sure if that topic in particular was talking about Halo as a series or Halo: CE the game. If it was talking about Halo as a series it could have been posted in the Halo 3 forum as it is discussion about the latest Halo game or the Underground because that is discussion about Bungie in general. If it was talking about Halo: CE it could have been posted in the The Maw or The Library.

Personally, it seems more like spam than anything else.

I'm sorry I have to bump this. It's becoming more of a problem, in the past three days I've seen so many Halo topics posted and locked. I was going to make a new topic, but this one already exists..

It depends.

Some topics are just too off-topic for New Mombasa, so they're posted in The Flood. And seeing as how we're getting newer and newer members they may be a bit confused as to where to draw the line as to what's Halo and what's "off-topic."

I think this stems from the sub-communities that the forums have created. People who regularly post on the Flood would rather post on the flood and get replies from fellow flood regulars than post their topics in the Halo 3 Forum, New Mombassa, or even The Maw or Underground.

It's basically become ( or is becoming) a public chapter unto itself.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

And I see far too much flood in the other forums!

The line between relevent and canned meat seems to be growing more vague everyday.

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

We need a forum dedicated to kitchens...

Just for the record, I wasn't targeting individuals or groups, just the spam that's often found between the cracks of relevent posts...

Today, out of all the threads on the first two pages of the Flood, there is one topic sentence with the word "Halo" in it. This thread is comparing Halo to Half Life, therefore in the correct forum.

With as fast of a moving forum as the Flood is, there's no reason for people to complain about too many Halo related topics of discussion. Just wait 15 minutes, and there will be plenty of "Rate the users sig about you" threads for you to post on.

Banned? Not quite. The occaisional spamming isn't a blacklistable offence...

There is no such thing as "the people in The Flood" or "the people from Optimatch". There are members of this site, users of these forums. Nothing more, nothing less.

I realise this Recon, but that doesn't stop people from forming their own views of the forums and believing that they are, in fact, "Part of the Cool Flood Regulars" when just about everyone else doesn't see them as this. People make decisions based on their outlook on life, and if they see The Flood as a community, they'll make decisions as if it were.

I guess that's when you step in and move/lock their topics all over the place.

Person 1: "Hey! You got your Halo in my Flood!"

Person 2: "Hey, You got your Flood in my Halo!"
That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell....
