Halo 1 was the only game I played and beat repeatedly. Campaign especially on Legendary was what really made the game. You could play it and practice over and over without getting bored and than got out and own your friends in a LAN. H2 is not like that. Somethings have benn changed in MP from what they were in campaign such as the grenade physics, beat downs, and probably a few others I am not aware of. I grind my teeth now when thinking about playing legendary on H2 and often long for the feel of Halo:CE, because H2 wasn't as fun it was just a challenge and truthfully the only reason I even finished legandary on H2 was because I was such a big fan of the first game. Looking back and even now playing legendary seems like more of a chore than a thrill. I can't say that H2 sucks because I still play MP on Live and usually enjoy it, but Bungie definitley missed something the second time around. The release date probably had something to do with it, because the whole game, as good as it is or isn't, feels unfinished - and I'm not just talking about the ending.

I'm glad to hear that they are being critical about H2 and admit the shortcomings of the game. Hopefully this will allow them to see their past mistakes and use that to make greater improvements on H3. I'd rather be able to enjoy a game when I'm playing it than than just beating it so I can throw MY MADSKILLZ in other people's faces. And to be honest no matter how much crap those little flamers talk online the competition is never as fierce as when the person your playing is sittling right next to you in flesh and blood. Whatever the schortcomings of H2, or H1 for that matter may be, they are still two amazing achievements and it's reassuring to know that Bungie means business. And to all you immature impatient flamers who whine about release dates, take a deep breath, and some ritalin, and remember that all good things come to those who wait. I'd rather wait for a game that I can enjoy for years to come than have a game right now that I won't even remember in six months.

i love u

Dont get too wrapped up in the Internet. It's already forgotten about you.

Very short update.

Happy that SWAT is back and unranked.

VERY VERY interesting picture in regards to the hot spots.
I say that because I've always been interested in relative hot spots on all of Halo's past and present maps.
Knowlede like that is king.

And this new feature/weapon?
Well, I've got my own ideas of what that is...

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

The killgraph was cool, but shouldn't it change colour in areas where there are very high concentrations?

Short but sweet update. Wonder what the new feature could be. Spectator mode? Gravity settings change? Hmm, but maybe MLG wouldn't like that. *shrugs* guess we'll find out on release day!

It’s going to be unranked as mentioned before; the reasons for this are many and vary from the impact of unranked environments on social aspects of the game to the fact that Team SWAT disregards some of the components that make Halo 2 multiplayer, well… Halo 2 multiplayer. Lack of shields, grenades and such a small array of available weaponry make this gametype quite unique. While it is fun for many, it’s not a staple Halo 2 experience so it falls within the confines of a novelty gametype.

yeah...more like, the majority of the people who play H2 online are ignorant morons who can't shoot straight and are left helpless in swat without granades and rocket launchers, and we want to keep the masses happy and modders to a minimum.

not that I blame bungie, but jeez, at least admit it.

as for the "big" thing that MLGers will dig.....please tell me......don't tease

Dude Swat is so stupid, but bungie at least knows as much as i do that team swat doesnt take skill. They didnt exactly say that but, they mentioned the lack of shields which is absolutely correct, and anyone who finds you first pretty much killed you. That is why halo rocks! the shields make it so that anyone can comeback and kill the opponent.

Im not saying take team swat off, but i just wont play it if it actually makes swat lovers happy.

wewt for team swat! although i dont currently have live, i used to have it when they had TS. I loved it, more about stealth than running into groups of 3 with a nub combo, or shotty. that was the only gametype i could ever actually get first in... and i cant wait till 2 weeks from now, i get my paycheck and i can get a 360!

edit: ignore my quote on the bottom for now >.>

Bigness. Personified.

Um. I just got asked to check out a new feature for the Halo series. And I nearly pooped my pants. Like all miraculous features, I asked what the percentage chance of it making it into the final game are. You’d be surprised how accurate those estimates are. This one, I got a plain old “100%, no worries.” Tyson downgraded that to 99%. Let’s just say that it will make the folks at HighImpactHalo fill their drawers. And the MLG boys will sweat blood with excitement. They will all still moan at me about how we nerfed the pistol from Halo One, but this new thing will at least cheer ‘em up for a few months. Or years. It’s that big.

Damn it. If only a sneaky Bungie employee put a webcam by the playing area and caught your facial expression when you first seen it. That would be priceless.

Great update Frankie ;)

I'm pretty sure Bungie is talking about the Return of the "M6D Pistol" and it will be "nerfed" down.

This is very exciting to many of your Halo Fans, All we ask is that You don't "Nerf" it down too Much, There will be "Less Moaning".......... But still, GREAT NEWS ! 99% Chance of it making the game.....I kind of like those odds, Even for Bungie...haha

Nice Update in a while.

"Bungie Admits Halo 2 Sucked".....Where the hell did this come from? There are few things in life that really piss me off but yellow journalism is one of them. I hate how one quote gets twisted into 8 spinoff news stories that shy away from what the quote really said. If Halo 2 "sucked" then why would the guys at Bungie take the time to release brand new maps despite having their hands full with H3? Stupid people should not be journalists. Anyways, now that I got that off my chest I want to say good update, and I can't wait to play SWAT again! Keep on rockin Frank.... -Sam

I"m glad that swat is coming back and I think we needed a new unranked playlist. But swat magnums? Come on. This is easily the worst game type ever. Nothing like shooting someone in the face with a full clip and not killing them, or seeing someone and not being able to kill them. In my opinion swat magnums defys the spirit of swat. Please consider drastically lowering its weight.

halo 2 was fun. what sucks is all the cheating. if they can cheat on halo 2 their going to be able to cheat on halo 3 so halo 3 will get bad soon

Nothing much to see this week, so move along if you're expecting a huge revelation. Some good news about multiplayer matchmaking and a couple of interesting images. We'll have more exciting stuff next week, but for now, on with the show.

I loved SWAT and I am glad to hear it is returning. SWAT was a favorite with the whole 'gang' I play with, ranked or not.

Damn you hit the nail on the head. I even liked the health pack on H1, but I understand that many like H2 without it.

I always told my friends that were impaitently waiting for Halo 2 "I would rather see Bungie get it right rather than rush the game out".

my question is: WHY don't people die in those places?

Snowbound has auto-turrets on the outer parts of the map , so if you pass them you die. That must've intimidated the Alpha testers to NOT go near the outter part so that they don't get auto-killed. ;)

swat is like a walk in the park with a mustard stain on your eye and diabolical squirrels made out of sticky nades....they will ruin your weekend (but i like it)
