Has anyone noticed on the library level, that there are strange glowing panels on the walls. the large ones, what are they for? my only guess is that they contain the flood because the monitor mentioned that they have areas to study the flood. any other ideas?

I am...whimsical today.

To me they resemble some kind of holding cell. Although they could be any number of different things :)

Probably some sort of Stasis for the Flood, which the covenant must have broken and released the flood from.

Addition: The stasis idea also makes sense because the Halos are meant to starve the flood, so the Forerunners wanted to preserve some of the flood, and would need a way to keep the flood species from being extinct, so that liquid must have kept them from "starving".

This is just off the top off my head but I think that the glowing panels are used to store information ( such as info about the flood or secrets about Halo that sort of thing).

Lots of harddrives

What if they are storage spaces for the Class 12 armors?

You mean the blue things? Dunno.

The holograms on the wall? Flowers, the forerunners were hippies.

But if the forerunners could prevent the Flood from being extincted, why didn't they prevent themselves from dying too? I think the whole story around the flood smells humbug.

To play or not to play....

I thought those things were large storage tanks for data.

Oh and I also agree that the Flood story is a bit off in many ways. I can't help thinking the real weapon of Halo is the Flood. Perhaps those storage tanks hold an army of flood just waiting for some poor soul to come along. Guilty Spark seems all to eager to activate Halo. Maybe activation releases the Flood there by killing off the sentient life so the Monitors can return to their rather peaceful lives.

I am probably wrong but the story about the flood just seems a bit offf to me.

wow i didn't expect this thread to keep going. the only thing that they could be is flood holding cell because the moniter mentioned areas where they study the flood that he wanted to show the master chief

True.

Sorry for sounding like a noob, but how exactly did the Forerunners die out? Were they victims of their own creation, The Flood?

Those blue-wall-thingys look like Stargates to me.

And since Stargates are cool I really like the look of the blue-wall-thingys.

I think it is a tank in which the flood were examined and the big ones with the elite body shape were kept. On Halo2 there is something a bit similar on the first level with the Arbiter there is a tank with all the little popping ones happily swimming around.

it cant be holding cells because on the level before it(343 Guilty Spark) has holding cells and seems more of a prison than the Library
