actually, Xbox live does have alot of little kiddies who think over-killing and then corpse-humping you is fun. Halo 2 Vista will require alot more money to buy then your average Halo PC. upgrading to Vista and all, which means that only people with jobs will be able to afford it. this meaning more mature people.

Unless your parents don't mind paying for it, or the parent's child is spoiled.

Or someone decides to hose microsoft and get a pirated version. Unfortunately, Vista can be dowbloaded off the net, no prob. I frown upon piracy, it screws the economy.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the pc communtity is much maturer than the xbl community. Any xbl/pc gamer will know this to be true.

I think he means Halo Custom Edition, and he's right.

Not sure if your talking to me, but this thread (haven't tried Custom Edition Yet) could apply to both versions.

Wrong. Any PC gamer might know this, but certainly not any Xbox Live player.

Yeah, I don;t mind the OCCASSIONAL rocket game, but totally infesting the lobby with them? No.

And yeah, I agree with you that the PC community is more mature than XBL's, but bare in mind that I said HALO PC's community, not the PC community in general. Also bare in mind that I said MOST of HALO PC'S community.
I'm sure you'll agree that most of Halo PC's community nowadays are immature and infested by little kids.

Oh, and everyone keeps saying that about Vista: "Vista requires alot of money, so only people with jobs can afford it, meaning mature community".
Well have you ever heard of "Parents"?
I'm sure most parents have jobs, and nowadays an up to date computer is essencial for the average worker. I'm sure many people will upgrade to Vista, and those many people will have little gamers.
Just think about it, are your parents upgrading to Vista? I'm pretty sure most in this forum are, so imagine if you were younger. Would it make a difference to the purchase? NO. So your family would still have Vista no matter what your age.

You fools need to open your mind.

This game has been out how long? Change is good. If you would open your eyes you would notice that the first 15 or so pages in the server list lobby are majority wise rocket servers run by clans. CV, X,NUB, SP, FOOK,BC ETC.

Not to mention Rockets Whore united and countless others. People just enjoy rockets, why cry about it? Faster action packed games with fast respawn games make for excellent slayer or CTF games. It will pain some of you to hear this, but in some ways playing in a Rocket game is skillwise harder than playing with pistols. Shees are less of a factor and a nice bonus.....Aimbots become useless with HeavyWeapons everywhere.

Free your mind and think.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

FINALLY SOMEONE WITH SOME SENSE!
I'll tell you why most people in Halo PC think that - It's because the Halo PC community have been overrun by little 3 year olds who say "Oh noes! Pistol is too small and boring! Rockets are teh PWNZ0RS!" It's a shame, it's the one thing that's made me not play Halo PC anymore.
Nowadays I play Halo CE, which is MUCH better. Most people are mature and i've never ever seen a rocket-only game in CE.

For all your sakes, I hope Halo 2 Vista doesn't have the same fate. I'm getting a 360 soon, so bye bye PC Halo's! Therefore, I don't really care about whether noobs will infest H2V too.
But for those who are computer gamers, I fear for you...

The other way around. I fear for you. "bye bye 360's!"

Some people like big explosions, so do I. But cheap kills are no fun at all. I thought HALO was rated "Mature", lol. The little TKing, spawn-camping, swearing jerks drive me crazy.

As a heavy weapons player for the last three years, I've always laughed at people who call us noobs for using them. Capturing the flag in any map is truly an art when you have 8 enemies firing rockets at you while trying to escape. Vehicles dont stand a chance either.. The bottom line is that it's a different style of the game that many people actually enjoy (why do you think there are so many servers) and not all of us are 3 years old. The average age in my clan would be about 30, and I guarantee you, that if you've played against the FöÖK~ clan you'd know were not just a bunch of noobs with rocket launchers....

It's not "an art". Scoring in a heavy weapons game is 99% of the time, pure luck. The majority of FPS players are unskilled, so the majority of them enjoy rocket games.

Okay, I'm not saying I hate heavies, I just hate the people who think they're godly when they use them. And then I 3SK them and get called an aimbotter.

I respect heavy weapons, and their gametypes. What I don't respect is the majority of stupid people who use them. I think they take skill. I love leading rockets to hit moving vehicles on the other side of the map!

Unskilled? Do you know how many times ignorant people like you have come into my server, and challenged me to a 1 vs 1 only to be humbled? It's like anything else if you choose to play a certain way, you will develop the skills necessary to fit that style. There are noobs in any gametype, so your point is moot...

Furthermore my clan plays other games like FEAR, BF2, BF2142, and would you believe that, we dont use heavy weapons. We're very good at the games I listed above also. So again labeling people who choose to play heavy weapons as being lazy or "unskilled" would be wrong again.

The bottom line is ya'll better get used to seeing heavy weapons servers now, and well into the future. We at FöÖK~ and many of the other heavy weapons clans have major plans to convert to Halo2 Vista the day it's released.

I have no idea. This is exactly why I don't play Halo PC anymore. Every server I join, we start with rockets. In fact, it's rare to find a 'normal' server.

That's very true. Actually, I did luck out an find a pretty decent one, but it's good for when I get home and want to log a couple hours. The server cycles through maps on a preset list, and only 1 out of every 10 or so games is rockets, just to keep the rocket weenies happy.
One time I just stood where I spawned and clicked the mouse...running riot! It was hilarious.

So glad I found it, I guess it's as close to a good server as I'm gonna get...for now...{suspenseful music}

It's simple: esey kills that go BOOM! Some people like to see things explode, or like to have esey kills. Therefore, they like rocket servers. If you don't like them, don't play them. it's prety esey to find a good server, just look at what weapon set it has in the "server rules" line on the server browser.

Yep. And what the guy above you said: What about spoiled kids with frustrated parents or good unspoiled kids with generous parents?

I don't know what you people are going on about. I have no problems finding a normal weapons server. I guess it helps that we run our own server, Igg has his, and HMC has thiers. So theres always a server with good maps and gametypes kicking around.

  • 01.29.2007 10:55 AM PDT

Let there be CHAOS!

I suck at Halo basically... and even I hate rockets.

I totally respect you and your clan, and I understand what you say. I just think using a normal weapon set takes more skill, but I can sympathize with you.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Meh, I just play MAW or the "Bungie" servers, stay away from the heavy servers save when I feel like vegging at the same time as playing Halo.

Don't like the server, leave, it's not like it's difficult.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

I found them useful to learn how to use rockets. In a normal game, the rocket is a rare item. You get it and blow yourself up if you are not careful.

Get on a rocket server, and you have no choice but to learn how to use rockets effectively.

Now if only I could learn to use the FRG. I still kill myself with that most often.

Compared to any other weapon, the heavies take much less skill. I didn't say no skill, just way less. All you really need is basic reflexes, because you only have to hit the general area of your enemy and they're instantly gone. A decent computer with a high frame rate helps because of the graphical power needed for explosions. Low ping also plays a big part, more than in other gametypes because one lucky shot kills.

Heavies is about having the host advantage and all that garbage. Rockets take nearly no precision; nearly no skill. Unskilled players enjoy this because everyone's (nearly) equally skilled in a rockets game.

What about snipers then? having no ping is an advantage, just click on their head and they are dead. Doesn't matter how far away they are. You don't have to lead and can even hit people in mid air. No skill at all...

Theres nothing wrong with a rockets game now and then. Thats what makes halo great, the many different ways to play. As stated above you can just leave the game and find another.
