Ok im not new to xbc been playin it forever but i recently moved and got a lap top.Ok heres my problem my xbox 360 is connected with an ethernet cable downstaris to a wireless router which my lap top gets internet from. When I run xbc on the downstaris computer my console is found and everything is fine but running up and down the staris sucks. So ive tried to use xbc on my lap top while my xbox is still connected with a cable to the wireless router but xbc cant find my box on my laptop. Now my lap top is connected to this router wirelessly (with a wireless card) and xbc help says both the xbox and computer cant be wireless and they arent only the laptop is. I really want to keep the xbox coonected to the router with a cble as wireless is way to laggy.

I used to be in the exact same situation as yours.

Wise decision.

Use VNC. Install the server version on the desktop and the viewer on the laptop. (you can skip directly to download without entering any infomation) Run XBC on your PC downstairs and instead of running up and down the stairs use the laptop to remotely control the desktop downstairs.

Or you could move the router closer to your Xbox and laptop. I had a 100 foot ethernet cable and several short cables so in this situation I needed two 100 foot cables to connect my laptop and Xbox to the router downstairs. What I did was move the router upstairs, keep the modem downstairs and using the 100 foot cable connect the router and modem together. Now with the router a few feet from my Xbox and laptop I used the short ethernet cables to connect both machines to the router.

The other alternative is to buy a long enough cable to connect the router to your laptop.

Run the viewer on the laptop. Enter the server's IP address and the password you set up for it.

*edit* I gave up this setup a loooong time ago because it tied up the use of a second computer all for a game so I just moved the router closer. I don't remember all the details of VNC in the short time that I used so I suggest you look though their FAQ.

On the server machine go to Start->run->type "cmd" and when the DOS prompt appears type "ipconfig"

It should be something like 192.168.0.___
