2. You will never under any circumstance be anything but a total pawn of Achronos.

3. You will never under any circumstance challenge a moderator or disagree with one, because they are always right and you pathetic members are inferior

I vehemenlty believe that the Bungie.net forums have become all about whats good for the people in charge, not about whats good for the regular old members.

Things really hit rock bottom when Shishka left. He understood the balance between strictness and "live and let live".

Now, many, NOT ALL, but many of the moderators will now just see a thread that has even the slightest problem with it, and they'll lock it; because they can.

Like stated above, we have alot of good moderators, but we have enough terrible ones, and they have destroyed these forums.

I know that Im not as popular of a member as Shai-Hulud was. So when I say that im leaving the Bungie.net forums Im not going to get alot of "Oh, well miss you," like he did. But he was right. The moderators have become to strict. Achronos and the rest of the on-line team has forgotten that this once wonderful Community is about the members, not about the people in charge.

I love Halo and I have nothing against the people who working their asses of to make Halo 3. I will still visit this site to read the updates and take care of my groups. But in regards to these forums; forget about it.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I love the Forums. I love posting my thoughts, debating, and humiiating a few members here and there.

anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

tbh, i see where you're coming from [wow nearly typo'd and you'd be voming! err anyway] but its a couple of the members who like to use this place as a chatroom - [im looking at you, members of New Mombasa] or just another crowd to boast their rank to.

Threads need to be locked. Forums need to be moderated. But really, if the ninja's were actually that; ninja's, there wouldnt be a problem. If they had the same exact profiles as a member, same avatars, same text then they'd be invisible. Threads would disappear that weren't worth keeping, pointless users would be warned anonymously that they were about to be banned.

But that's my opinion. Thing is MAC, Turkies don't vote for Christmas, you have to understand that.

I agree. Just post interesting threads and reply to others. Follow the forum rules and your good.

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

I've seen the forums get pretty strict lately as well. I don't blame the mods for making it that way. New members means more people. More people means more elitism. More elitism means more fighting. That needs to be controlled.

I honestly do not really see your point MAC. I do see your point in the forums becoming nearly inactive of interesting; intelligent discussions once shishka left(moderating). But I have not witnessed a decrease in moderation quality. It is the same as it has been for the past few years. I believe, that within your mind, once shishka left; everything has fallen apart. That is, due to his strictness and likability. I don't really believe that you should leave the forums, I suggest you just take some time; get your head clear.

I think the moderation has gotten much less strict actually, just check out the Flood. Shishka was much more strict than the newer mods. I dont think you have any evidence to back up your claims. And you know I'm not just saying that to get on the mods' good side, I'm very rebellious towards authority, but the mods have given me no reason to lose faith in their judgment.

Sure, maybe most of the new mods arent as theatrical as Shishka was, but that doesnt make them any worse.

Actually shishka was extremely fair. Some other mods aren't.
For example, Yoozel locks any thread that mentions 'emo' in the title or original post, and many other mods just lock threads they don't like.

You want to know what it'd be like to have no moderators on this site? Try this easy to prepare simulation.
Step 1: Procure yourself an intact box, something a fridge or similarly large appliance.
Step 2: Fill cardboard box halfway with feral cats. One or two should be rabid.
Step 3: Climb inside the box, closing the top behind you.
Step 4: Begin screaming and thrashing wildly at the cats.

I feel the moderators have done a fine job. I have noticed more threads that didn't break the rules that bad, but locked anyways.

But this is simply because of the large number of new threads/spam/flaming. With more and more really bad threads, it becomes more and more likely that some threads close to the line get locked too. It isn't because the mods are more strict, it is simply due to the number of threads they have to deal with.

In my opinion anyways.

Ach! Was ist los?

I don't see any particular clampdown on the forums, certainly not an intentional one.

In the past few months, there has been a rising tide of both idiocy and hooliganism. I shouldn't have to remind you of Pillage, nor of those promoting the Flood vs. New Mombasa forum wars. If we are, indeed, becoming more strict, I suspect it is out of a desire to deal with dedicated troublemakers before they progress too far.

Besides, if you stay on topic and don't spam, your posts will not be locked. As far as I can tell, the current mod staff hasn't stolen, unfairly locked, or spamed a thread. As far as I am concerned, I am here to have fun, relate ideas, and help make a better halo community.

Moderators are your friends. Like most of your friends if you make them mad they will get mad back at you. Mods are the same way. If you follow the rules you are all good and don't have to worry about getteing Blacklisted of having a thread locked.

Seriously? That is a sign of a bad member. At least he is trying to be heard and there is nothing wrong with his thread. Worst case scenario= locking this thread.

Totally agreed. Yes, there are quite a few idiots here these days, but there are REALLY some threads out there that shouldn't be locked. And I think I'll puke if those really are the new terms of use rules.

To be honest, I think you should just be glad I'm not a moderator. I would be a lot more liberal with blacklistings, given the noticeable rise in stupidity everywhere. You know clanmatch topics in optimatch? I would be handing out 1 week blacklists to all of them.

I think the current mods are incredibly generous with "bad" threads, given the creator's obvious inability to use the stickies or the search button.

Actually, if you think about it, that's more of an ultra-conservative ideology, forum-wise anyways.

  • 01.27.2007 10:59 AM PDT

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

Part of your logic is flawed because you do not understand the logic that Moderators use. Threads are locked because they are either in violation of the Terms of Service or a thread is potentially going to run the risk of becoming a violation. We try to stop problems before they arise and you know as well as I do that problems can lead to blacklistings.

As for disagreeing with Bungie... you are allowed to post your opinion, that is what a forum is made up of. But there comes a time where opinions are riddled with curse words, slander and are basically trash talking which is unsightly and unpleasant. By all means have and share your opinion even if it doesn't agree with Bungie but as long as you present it in an appropriate manner.

Yes Moderators are supposed to be strict, but a lot of us Moderator with some lax as to what can happen and what is completely inappropriate. Shishka was a very stern Moderator and if that's the ideal candidate for a Moderator it's time we go back to boot camp. Regardless, we have to change with the forums. At any given time the personality of the forums changes with new members, news, posts... it varies day by day and we have to meet the demands constantly. We are only as strict as we need to be, if you stay on topic, play nice, post appropriately and follow the rules there'd almost be no need for Moderators.

I remember back when we only had two forums, in my entire year and a half of using them... I saw probably one person actually get banned. It's boiled down to the maturity of the forum users that have dictated policy and how strict Moderators must be.

And Ben, see my first paragraph. All “emo” threads degrade into stereotyped and offensive threads. It's common topic, misunderstood and mocked thusly because it most pertains to linking to YTMD and does not contribute to any form of discuss it's typically going to be locked.

P.S. I was made a Moderator like a month after Stosh and Shishka were the first two mods. I'm old, I remember when we had no blacklist feature.
