I get this problem with most weapon/vehicle related sounds during game play. What happens is, the whole sound doesn't play sometimes, just part of it.

Here's an example I recorded: http://media.putfile.com/Halo-sound-problem

Anyone else have this issue? And is there a fix? It can't stand it.

Fight to Live, Live to Fight.

It's the lag.

I would like to agree, but it happens everywhere. Be it single player, multi player, messing around on a multi player map by myself (no ping). My PC can handle this game just fine so I'm posative it's not either type of lag.

Try updating the sound card drivers at the manufacturer's site.

Also, screw with the sound settings on the game itself.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

If hardware acceleration is turned on, turn it off. If this doesn't help, invest in a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! or newer.

Halo referances sounds in the effect tag, and effect tags disable themselves to reduce lag. Your game is cutting sounds out to make your FPS not drop as much.

For gaming purposes it would ne a good idea to go with a sound card that does hardware buffers. Software buffers can have some very negative effects on a computer.

But then again, I'd rather waste money on good graphics card, a better power supply, or some RAM sticks. Sounds can always come later.

Not if you want high quality sound.

True, but what would you rather want, better sound, or awesome eye-candy with performance boost? ;D
